Rembrandt Stain Dissolving Strips: In the Beauty Brains Bathroom

This week I’ve been using Rembrandt’s Intense Stain stain dissolving strips. I’ve always been intrigued by the way companies have incorporated hydrogen peroxide (the same tooth whitening ingredient that dentists use) into home use products. The trick, of course, is how to keep the peroxide in contact with your teeth while it does its job. On one hand there are gels that are held against your teeth with plastic inserts. On the other hand there are removable plastic strips that you wear for 30 minutes or so. Rembrandt has a unique approach with these strips that dissolve in your mouth after 5 to 10 minutes.

Advantages of stain dissolving strips

While these strips don’t pack the same stain whitening power as a concentrated gel they do have a unique advantage: they’re so easy to use that they increase user compliance. In other words, since you don’t have to go through all the hassle of plastic trays or sticky strips, you’re more likely to use these. And if you use them regularly they will noticeably whiten teeth. Using them this way also helps them remove new stains before they have a chance to set, which is an advantage you won’t get with products designed to be used less frequently.

Rembrandt Stain Dissolving Strips Ingredients

PVP, Hydrogen Peroxide, Water, Pullulan, Shellac, Flavor, Mono and Diglycerides, Silica, Glycerin, Sodium Saccharin, PEG 75, Polysorbate 20, Potassium Phosphate, Carrageenan, Propylene Glycol, Disodium Phosphate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Locust Bean Gum, Triacetin, Xanthan Gum

Amazing fact: one of the major components of the strip is pullulan which is a starchy material derived from fungus.

I really should whiten my teeth. It sneak up on you over time. I saw a picture the other day and noticed my smile was not bright at all.
