Since we literally wrote the book on lip balm (Can You Get Hooked On Lip Balm) we’re always excited to try the latest products. This week we’re using Willa Smile Butter which comes in three delightful flavors: Miami Mango, Vera Cruz Vanilla and our favorite St. Tropez Strawberry.

While it’s touted as being “formulated from nature” the ingredient list reveals a number of chemicals designed to moisturize lips without being sticky. In our opinion, this is a more advanced formula than one just based on petrolatum or solely on natural oils.

Smile Butter Ingredients

Polybutene, octyldodecanol, trimethylolpropane triisostearate, caprylic/capric triglyceride, hydroxystearic acid, silica silylate, tridecyl trimellitate, flavor, polyethylene, polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, benzyl benzoate, stearalkonium hectorite, yellow 5 lake, titanium dioxide, propylene carbonate, red 30 lake, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, tocopheryl acetate, linalool, iron oxides, benzyl benzoate, stearalkonium hectorite, yellow 5 lake, titanium dioxide, propylene carbonate, red 30 lake, butyrospermum parkii (shea) butter, tocopheryl acetate, linalool, iron oxides.

Even though the Beauty Brains don’t do traditional reviews, from time to time we like to share new products that we’re trying. We want you to know that we received free samples in exchange for a mention on our blog and that we’re not necessarily recommending you buy anything. We’re just sharing new product news; please do your own research before you buy.

How is it more advanced can you explain?

@Rozy: The ingredients they use let you strike a better balance between moisturizing and heavy/sticky than you can with just using petrolatum or natural oils.

I would love to find this to compare with my favorites.
