Dr. LeWinn by Kinerase: In the Beauty Brains Bathroom

This week we tried two new Kinerase products. The first is a makeup remover that “restores the skin’s natural protective barrier to help it regain and retain lost moisture.” Cleansers are typically not the best product to restore skin moisture. Some of the ingredients in this formula (like ceramides) would be more effective in a leave on skin cream. But the product certainly delivers on it’s promise of being a “soap-free” cleanser. Heads up: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is the primary cleanser so if you’re sensitive to this ingredient watch out.

The second product is LeWinn’s Under Eye Recovery Cream. This one makes some amazing claims that it “decongests puffiness” and that it works by “stopping liquid accumulation” due to an ingredient called “Eyesearyl” (aka Acetyl Tetrapeptide-5.) According to the supplier, this ingredient has anti-eyebag and anti-dark circle properties although the only studies we could find were those published by the ingredient supplier and those were conducted monadically without a control so it’s difficult to say what they really prove.
