Can A Facial Bar Performs A Miracle?

There's a hype about a product called Eumora. Essentially, it just a facial bar with heilmoor clay ingredient in it. I never hear about that clay until recently. The girls using it rant in many forums and blogs about how good this facial bar is. Although it's an expensive facial bar (about $100 for full size bar, but you could buy smaller size), they said that it can replace their daily routine skincare and end many skin's problems (acne, wrinkles, etc). So in their opinions, it's not expensive at all.

For me, it's just to good to be true. I mean, c'mon. A facial bar? And what make me curious is how simple this products works. Just lather it in your face for three minutes a day, and then after around one month, you'll get a fresh radiant skin. But there's a downside of this. There will be healing crisis This is the period that the bar is trying to heal out skin. Some will experience peeling, outbreak, dryness, etc. Most will be mild which last from weeks to even month. I frown at this. It doesn't sound right to me. But maybe this is normal?

I'm sorry that it such a long question. But I'm curious about this and I hate to see my friends spend their money for something that maybe just another marketing's hype.

By the way, this is their website
http://www.esabee.biz/products_eumora.html

There's a list of Eumora's benefits there. Sorry, I couldn't copy it.

There is a new product rave over at acne.org and I was wondering what the brains thought of it. It's called Intense Gel R-ALA from Pure Deming. It is suppose to help fade the appearance of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Here's the link to the acne.org thread - http://www.acne.org/messageboard/Recommended-Products-R-t14887.html

Here's the product website - http://puredeming.com/products/treatments.html

The ingredients are as follows:

Is packed with Certified Organic Jojoba, Manuka Honey, Deionized Water, Natural Alpha Lipoic Acid (RALA), DMAE, Vitamin C, Tocomin [Natural D mixed Tocotrierols], Pomegranate Extract, Acai Berry, Organic Cranberry Extract, Pure Essential & Fragrance Oils, Optiphen Plus [a paraben free preservative].

Can this be the miracle cure for acne scars? Also, the acne.org forum members are talking about a warming/burning sensation upon applying this. What could cause this? Will this serum harm or help the skin?

Hi,
I' ve been reading a bit about 18 MEA, a lipid which is bound to the hair cuticle, and how it protects the cuticle and give the hair its "slip". I also found out about how almost 80% of this lipid that makes your hair appear shiny and healthy can be removed from a person's hair through dyeing. Now, I used to dye my hair and I've noticed the difference between my new hair (undyed) and the dyed parts (even right up to the line where I stopped dyeing- which is just below my shoulder line) and I was wondering whether there was any way I could replenish my hair with 18 MEA. Are there any hair products out there that could do this? Would putting 18 MEA back on to my hair actually work? Or would I need to bind it back to my hair (obviously, that would be impossible)? Are there any oils out there that have 18 MEA in it? Could you please explain how 18 MEA works?
I would appreciate any help or information about 18 MEA I could get ! The internet is good, but not detailed enough about it. - Although I did find a hair product called Croda that claims to replenish the lost 18 MEA in your hair.
Thanks!

New addition to the Hall of Shame? Sheiksho black beauty mask

Here's another product I found interesting: The Sheiksho black beauty mask. This mask claims to:

"Add radiance to your skin! This cleansing mask helps remove impurities to enhance skin's translucence and beauty.

Unclogs pores to help reduce blackheads.

This black mask helps increase clarity and add radiance to your skin. It helps remove dirt and impurities to thoroughly clean skin and enhance translucency of your skin.

This mask adheres closely to the skin surface and lifts away dullness with a mild tingling sensation. Remove the mask to reveal a glowing, smooth complexion.

*Formulated with Oriental herb extracts.

Made in Japan"

Here is a review with a picture of the black mask: http://www.beautysnob.com/2007/03/sekkisei_black_beauty_mask.html

I've actually tried this mask out myself (free sample) and I have to say that it's one of the more worthless things out there. I don't like masks in general because I don't care to peel of layers of skin, but I believe the company sometimes claims that this whitens your skin. Well, yeah, because after you take it off, your skin looks much whiter when it's not covered in black stuff! I do love the part about Oriental herb extracts because what's better than regular herb extracts? "Oriental" herbs. This just ups the ante on the nature bandwagon.

Also, would anyone want translucent skin? Don't they realize translucent skin would be clear and we would just have a giant bruise for a face? What do you all think?

I'll give my opinion after that time has lapsed. In the mean time I wonder if this expensive cream is really worth the price tag?
I've also heard that your skin could be "addicted" to glycolic acid/other form of chemical peeling, as in once you start you can't stop using it as your skin won't get the glowy effect anymore. Is this true?

What do you all think about Givinchy's black lotion thing?

Description:
Givenchy Le Soin Noir contains an extremely precious, natural age-defying ingredient that will secure its status in your anti-aging routine. Used for the first time in cosmetics, Vital Black Algae Sap Concentrate restores communication between the skin's cells. Givenchy's researchers have developed a method to infuse this potion with a rare black algae extract to help maintain and prolong cellular longevity. Parched skin drinks in the hydration it needs—leaving your complexion firm, glowing, and even-toned.

Vital Black Algae Sap Concentrate is found in the depths of the ocean and reconstructs a catalyst in the skin to counteract the signs of aging. Only Vital Black Algae Sap Concentrate contains these precious black molecules that are extremely rich in vital fatty acids. The result is skin that draws new strength to protect the cells' DNA from light-induced aging and wrinkles as it becomes firmer and restores itself. Smooth it on morning and night to form an invisible barrier that protects against the signs of aging caused by environmental and internal assaults.

I think the name "vital black algae sap concentrate" is genius. Makes me want to buy it just because it reminds me of "The Teacher from the Black Lagoon"! Question is, does it work?

AVEENO NOURISH+ is a revolutionary hair care line from AVEENO because it combines nature + science to nourish damaged hair back to life in just three washes.

AVEENO’s exclusive Nourishing Wheat Complex has a positive electrical charge, which attracts to the negatively charged damaged parts of the hair follicle. When the complex is attracted to the damaged areas, it delivers the right amount of proteins needed to help moisturize and repair dry and damaged hair. All in a bottle.
The complete line up will contain NOURISH + MOISTURIZE Shampoo and Conditioner, NOURISH + REVITALIZE Shampoo and Conditioner, NOURISH + VOLUMIZE Shampoo and Conditioner, NOURISH + SOOTHE Shampoo and NOURISH +Condition Leave-In Treatment.
But this is the first time I've come across something so different. My problem is that I'm not able to interpret these ingredients & say they are milder than a Cetaphil or a Neutrogena.

Here's a list of all the ingredients :-
Water, Glycerin, Potassium Myristate, Palmitic Acid, Myristic Acid, Potassium Laurate, Potassium Palmitate, Potassium Stearate, Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate, Lauric Acid, Peg-32 Stearate, Peg-6 Stearate, Butylene Glycol, Stearic Acid, Isobutylparaben, Soybean Oil, Methylparaben, Phenoxyethanol, Disodium Edta, Tocopherol, Propylparaben, Ubiquinone, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Fragrance

What about essentiel oils from Decleor or Darphin that costs a bomb for just 15 ml? Does that mean that they are not worth the money and isn't useful? Thanks

Hey there, Brains!

I'd like to know your opinion about Green Cream, which is a topical retinol treatment. Up to now I have used Avene Diacneal, but Green Cream claims it is better packaged so that the retinol doesn't lose its potency. The claims seem to be not-too-outlandish (at least in comparison), which is somewhat novel, but what do you think about them? Do you think switching to Green Cream makes sense?

Ink, eagerly awaiting new posts, as usual :)

Recently I've heard that silica powder, like Coastal Scent's silica powder spheres (http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm/product/388_46/silica-powder-spheres---eta-02172009.cfm) can cause Silicosis. I thought it was the same thing as Make Up Forever's hd powder, which is also listed it's ingredients as100% mineral silica powder. Are they really the same? Are either of them going to cause Silicosis if I breath them? Both of them float around in the air really easily when you open their jars.
