I'm new to the forums as I try to seek out scientific information about the effectiveness of various beauty products. I'm trying to get an article together on the state of the cosmetic industry - the quality of their scientific studies, if the new miracle molecules they market every month are any good, etc. So what I'm hoping I can get from you guys are good scientific resources - books, websites, etc.
Also - I have to say how pleased I was finding this website. It's surprisingly skeptical and covers lots of topics. Love it!

I've noticed I've been more restless and anxious lately. I suspect I might not be doing enough physically (reading and shifting textbooks doesn't count as exercise, unfortunately) but I'm interested in what everyone else does to blow off steam.
I bought LRP anthelios xl 50+ sunscreen spray to use on my neck, chest and arms for daily protection. I don't really need that high of an spf for everyday, but I have patches of melasma on the sides of my neck as well as my face from my 1 hour car commute to and from work (I say it's from that because it's esp on the driver's side), and my left arm and hand are downright tanned. This product is different from the mexoryl sx sunscreens that are available here in the US, so I bought it on amazon (not sold by amazon, but a vendor). Unlike my usual car commute, today I was actually out in the sun after I'd used it. Well my chest is pink. Not a bright red sunburn, but I wasn't out very long. So--should I be worried it's a fake? Or conclude I just didn't apply liberally enough? For LRP users, does the labeling on the front of the spray bottle normally look like an adhesive label if you look very closely, or is it imprinted directly on the plastic?

Anyway, I was wondering what the weirdest thing you've ever seen in a beauty book?
I was flipping through this one mostly targeted at teens and 20-something women one day. Big section on zits. The writer claimed that while doing a show in France she was breaking out and the woman doing her makeup told her to use a mask made of cottage cheese and honey. The writer tried it and said it worked. But I just don't see how spreading these two things on your face is suppose to get rid of zits. Seems to me it would make more. And you can buy a good mineral clay mask at WalMart for a lot cheaper anyway.

It's a Giveaway that i found posted on facebook that was posted before it even appeared on their site.
Now the Giveaway is posted up on their site, the date it begins is this Monday June 07 2010 at 12:00am (ET) and it looks like it will run for 2 weeks only.
The giveaway is on this site >
Hot New Make Up
but I get my info from facebook cause it seems if you click their site as "LIKE" you get a head start on all Giveaways and Promotion posted on their site.
I struggle with money cause I'm only a student but this site will satisfy my Makeup obsession for sure.
I emailed them on facebook and they told me they will have Giveaways every 2 weeks. Isn't that going to be expensive for them??
