I have a question for anyone out there that can help. I've starting waxing my legs and I think it's great but I.m having a problem when the hair starts growing in. The hair isn't ingrown but grows in parallel just under the skin. I've tried exfoliating(wet and dry), alpha hydrox lotion, a loufah sponge but nothing works. It's to the point when I'm ready to wax I have to pick the hairs out straight with tweezers to wax. Any suggestions out there?

Don't Combine These Skin Care Ingredients

As if skin care wasn't complicated enough I recently read some suggestions about which skin care ingredients NOT TO USE together. Ironically enough I read it in REAL SIMPLE where NOTHING is SIMPLE nor inexpensive, but I digress. Here is their list with my brief summation of why not to combine.

ALPHA HYDROXY ACIDS (AHAs) and RETINOIDS: When these are used together they cancel out each other's benefits.

SALICYLIC ACID and AHAs or RETINOLS: This can overexfoliate your skin.

HYDROQUINONE and AHAs: AHAs render the Hydroquinone ineffective.

BENZOYL PEROXIDE and RETINOLS: When combined these ingredients can irritate dermatitis or exczyma.

I presume these warning are about layering creams.gels, etc. with these ingredients not about using two of them by themselves. Perhaps on the BB's can weigh in on this. I personally use several creams at night and perhaps they conflict. However, they are Paula Begoun products which give good directions on how to use.

Hello all! This is one of my first posts on these beloved forums. I am having an issue with shea butter. I cannot get the stuff to melt into my skin. It seems to just lie there, giving my hands a waxy, crayon-like film. Does anyone have any suggestions for helping it melt? Would putting it in the microwave for a couple seconds be good, or totally bad news? Did I just get a crappy brand? (I bought it on eBay very cheap because this was my first use of shea butter and wanted to just try it out)

Thanks!

Hi,

My doctor in japan recommended me to do a treatment with indiba in order to increase blood circulation so as to have a better skin.

I found a web page talking about it here: http://www.indiba.co.jp/english/, and here http://www.indiba.es/eng/medicina/metodo.htm

from what I understand it's using radio frequency so as to heat up the skin....
I wanted to know what people think about this treatment?

Thanks

HELP...Beauty Brains...As a poor unfortunate who can be sucked in by drugstore anti-wrinkle creams I couldn't help but notice that on ALMOST every other page of my latest copy of REAL SIMPLE there is some NEW anti-aging product. I will admit that I manage to dismiss most of this because I read Paula Begoun and the Beauty Brains. I am also smart enough to know that sunscreen is the BEST anti-aging product you can use that WORKS.

However, since I do use and LOVE Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Sunscreen as my "primer" I couldn't help but notice that they have now introduced a NEW line of anti-oxidant products (boldly labelled Anti-Oxidant Age Reverse...sigh) that sound suspiciously like the sunscreen I already use. Is this just a case of niche marketting...RE-presenting the same products in new packaging or slightly different formulations? Am i crazy or isn't this what Olay keeps doing with Definity...Regenerist...etc. Even though I know I am being manipulated as an aging baby boomer who is supposed to have enough disposable income for all this but sometimes I just give in.

Can you offer any clarity on this topic of anti-aging products and what ingredients are most important to look for?

Has anyone tried Bionova products (https://www.bionovalab.com/bionova/Customer/index.jsp)? If so, to what results? Does the claim of nanotech-delivered ingredients have any legs to stand on? Is this technology safe for pregnant women? I am a skeptic by nature and probably of the same opinion as the writer of this article http://www.technologyreview.com/Nanotech/18302/, but at the same time, I am vain enough that if I could find a simple solution to my adult acne breakouts (probably stress- and hormone-related) and hyperpigmentation/scarring, I would willingly pay whatever premium. Thanks for any feedback.

Is it possible that the oil in the sheets is supposed to keep your skin moisturized so it doesn't dry out and produce more oil?
