So. Two problems.

One being :
I have what seems to be a permanent area of spots on my left cheek which I'm having trouble getting rid of. I use a pore cleaning / anti acne face wash but it doesn't seem to be doing anything and it's only on the one side. I'm not sure quite what to do about it

The second problem is my nails.
The background to my nails is basically I wore nail polish for about 6 months straight and a yellow polish left my nails stained which led to more polish abusing but now my nails are back to normal; I havent been wearing nail polish in about a month but I still have this recurring problem. My nails peel / crack / split. Mainly my index / middle finger on my right hand (I'm right handed). Basically no matter what length they always peel. My thumb nail peeled off a rather thick peel the other day making my have to cut all my nails again.

It's hardly a big problem, but a pesky annoying one.

If anyone have any suggestions I'd be greatful.

Nailwise I used / tried : Burts Bee's Cuticle Cream / Daily Moisturizing (Mary Kay)

I have to say that my skin had never been so dry in my entire life! It seemed that I did not tan as well either the past 2 summers and my "fake bake" tan also seemed to fade quickly.
In the comment section of the BB blog called "9 Tips to Prevent Wrinkles?", there were more than a few enthusiastic comments about Made From Earth's Vitamin Enhanced Face Firming Serum. I had never heard of the company or the product before but it got my curiosity up. After clicking around the internet for a bit, I learned that an ingredient it contains, called DMAE, may be effective in tightening skin. I've found this website to have some good information on skin care in the past. Their article on DMAE explains it fairly well:

I recently read an article that said a popular chemical in sunsceens, Oxybenzone, is unsafe and can lead to allergic reactions, absorption into the skin, and a channel for other chemicals to absorb into the skin too! I did a little internet research and it seems like every non-mineral sunblock uses this ingredient, including most popular drugstore brands. Is it really as bad as the ewg.org claims? SHould I toss all my sunblock and only use ones containing Titanium Dioxide???

I usually use Stridex Power Pads, which I love. They are a wipe containing 2.5% BP and very gentle - they even contain some glycerine for hydrating purposes. This is usually all I use at night. However, the box only comes with a 2 week supply (if using 2x a day, which I do). I ran out and can't buy more until Friday (payday) so I used some Acne.org BP that I had lying around. I never got into using this BP gel because it kills my skin! I used it last night and my face today feels dry, raw and irritated. It's a shame because I just ordered and received this larger size of this Acne.org BP.

My question is this - why would the Acne.org BP hurt my skin so badly and the Stridex I don't have any reactions to? Could it be some inactives in the Acne.org BP? The second ingredient if Propolene Glycol, I know I've heard some negative things about this.

Also, has anyone ever heard of a toner containing BP? That would be a great way to cut down on my skin care steps. Or another, cheaper BP wipe?

Some hard and true facts about scars. Scars occur when the thick layer of our skin (the dermis layer) is damaged. However, scars need not be permanent. Research has confirmed that the MOST EFFECTIVE way to reduce scar is actually applying CONCENTRATED Vitamin E to the skin to increase collagen and nourish the skin.

Using other methods eg. Chemicals, surgery and others do not work. Those may seem faster BUT short term solutions with lots of side effects!!! Try and GET hold of some serum with very very high concentrated Vitamin E. Doesn't matter which brand as long as it contains natural Vitamin E. Most products will not have high Vitamin E because the ingredient is expensive.

If you need a suggestion, one product I tried recently that works is Natur E which you can find at www.scarremovaltreatment.net. Let me know if it does work for you.

Please help me! There are some things about using sunscreens that I just do not understand.
"Reapply sunscreen every two hours." Does this mean after two hours of sun exposure? What if it is applied and then you stay in a dim room and the sunscreen does not get wet, sweated off, or rubbed off for two hours. Does it need to be reapplied again before going outside? Is the answer different if it is a chemical sunscreen or a physical sunscreen?
If I apply sunscreen, then go in the sun for one hour, then go inside for another hour, can I go back in the sun for one more hour before I need to re-apply?
Also, after two hours have passed (with no wetness, sweating, or rubbing off of sunscreen), do you now have no UV protection at all, or is there still some SPF, maybe a reduced SPF, that continues to give you protection?
I understand that chemical sunscreens break down as they absorb the UV light, which necessitates re-applying the sunscreen. What about zinc oxide or titanium dioxide sunscreens. If they do not get wet, sweaty, or rubbed off, why don't they protect for longer than two hours?
I need to know because I have not bothered putting sunscreen on my 8 year old before she leaves in the pre-dawn hours for school, figuring that by the time she is outside getting UV exposure, more than two hours later, she won't be getting any protection anyway. But I would apply it if I thought it would give her some protection.

I am trying to be more diligent about reapplying sunscreen throughout the day, but I need some ideas about how to put it on over my makeup without disturbing my makeup. I need to use only a mineral, fragrance-free sunscreen. I have used pressed powder with SPF, but Paula Begoun says that that kind of product can't be applied thickly enough to provide sufficient SPF without it looking caked or obvious
So, has anyone else found a product or technique that works for them?
I have read about some loose powder sunscreens, designed to be sunscreen and not a cosmetic (e.g., Peter Thomas Roth, or Colorescience Sunforgettable). Has anyone tried one of these products?
