tips to make your teeth white
  • I suggest the following home remedies and basic dental care. Reduce coffee and red wine intake and reduce smoking. This is common sense and also good for your body. Try chewing raw vegetables , once a day . Raw vegetables are a healthy snack and they will also help in cleaning your teeth.

    Tips To reduce Bad Breath

Keep your mouth clean. That means a thorough brushing twice a day and flossing regularly.

Clean your tongue, too. Bacteria left on your tongue can contribute to less-than-fresh breath.

Wet your whistle. A dry mouth can quickly cause bad breath. Saliva helps clean your mouth; it has a natural antibacterial action, and it washes away food particles.

Rinse. If nothing else, at least rinse your mouth with plain water after eating. Swishing the water around may help to remove some of the food particles left in the mouth after a meal and prevent bad breath from setting in.

Eat to smell sweet. Foods that help fight plaque may also help fight bad breath. Opt for celery, carrots, peanuts, or a bit of low-fat cheese if you want something to snack on.
  • I definitely agree with cleaning your tongue. A lot of people don't know that it is very important to brush your tongue; my boyfriend never thought to do it until I told him to.
  • After using many over the counter tooth whiting products that worked but only temporary I was ready for more of a permanent approach. I decided to invest in visiting my dentist for professional whiting - Britsmile. Although it was not a very enjoyable experience I am happy with the result. The treatment got right in to rid of the stains over the years brining them back to their natural shade approx 5 shades lighter than they were before the treatment. I was expecting a much brighter result but am thankful they still look natural.

Would love to hear about your tooth whiting experience’s.
  • Crest White Strips are the most recommended of the OTC ways to whiten your teeth. Going to your dentist for a professional whitening either with an in-office treatment or getting the custom trays and using the pro strength gel at home are the absolute best options. If you find your teeth are sensitive during or after using the gel at home you can use either a fluoride rinse or a toothpaste for sensitive teeth. (Be careful about the color if you use a fluoride rinse because of possible stain issues.)

Be careful when you are bleaching your teeth not to drink and eat things that will stain. The things that come to mind are coffee, red wine, blueberries, blackberries and tea. After two weeks the "pores" of the teeth close back up and staining is no so much an issue. The teeth will still stain just not as much as in the first two weeks and no more than usual.

@ BlackAngel - did you get the trays made to use later for touch-ups? From your description it sounds like Britsmile is similar to Zoom used by dentists in my area. They usually include the trays. You use those at home with the bleaching gel for touch-ups once or twice a year. Personally I only used the trays. It took a long time to get my teeth bleached out. I had tetracycline stains. My dentist didn't honestly think the bleaching would work for me, but it did. :-)

@ Jane - coffee has lots of antioxidants, as does red wine, and is actually good for you. I could not agree more about the smoking though. If you smoke you should quit. It is very VERY bad for you and for those around you (second hand smoke).
  • This is a quirky one but I've heard that rubbing a strawberry on your teeth makes them whiter.
It's a ritual that Catherine Zeta Jones uses to brighten up her famous choppers.
I bite into the strawberry so there's half left. Hold it by its leaves and rub it on my teeth like using a toothbrush.
    It keeps my teeth white!
  • @ fritoian - that is a 'tasteful' solution! : D

  • Right we get it.  Whitening cream.  Zombie!
  • not to do with whitening but I heard that vaseline applied on front teeth gives a lovely smile-something about no lipstick stains and reflection of light for photos-pretty yucky though.
  • Baking soda and salt just brush with it
  • I think if you used baking soda and salt over time you'd destroy the enamel on your teeth.
  • You can try rubbing the peel of orange on your teeth or  use "Meswak" tree's little stem to rub against your teeth.
