Lead in Lipstick
  • Tomorrow I'm blogging about this email from KP about the dangers of lead in lipstick. I thought you'd enjoy reading the entire story.

You might find this important – LIPSTICK INFORMATION

Something to consider next time you go shopping for lipstick… This comes
from someone who works in the breast cancer unit at Mt. Sinai Hospital , in
    Toronto.

From Dr. Nahid Nemai: If there is a female you care anything about, share
this with her. I did!! I am also sharing this with the males on my e-mail
list, because they need to tell the females THEY care about as well.
Recently a lipstick brand called "Red Earth" decreased their prices from $67
to $9.90. It contained lead. Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

The lipstick brands that contain lead are:
    CHRISTIAN DIOR
    LANCOME
    CLINIQUE
    Y.S.L
    ESTEE LAUDER
    SHISEIDO
    RED EARTH (Lip Gloss)
    CHANEL (Lip Conditioner)
    MARKET AMERICA-MOTNES LIPSTICK.

The higher the lead content, the greater the chance of causing cancer.
After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Y.S.L. Lipstick
contained the most amount of lead. Watch out for those lipsticks which are
supposed to stay longer. If your lipstick stays longer, it is because of the
higher content of lead. Here is the test you can do yourself:

    1. Put some lipstick on your hand.
    2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.
    3. If the lipstick color changes to black, Then you know the lipstick
    contains lead.

Please send this information to all your girlfriends, wives and female
family members. This information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army
Medical Center Dioxin Carcinogens cause cancer, especially breast cancer.
  • Another bogus e-mail without merit? Or one more thing to worry about?
  • I don't know yet. I guess we'll have to see what Lefty says tomorrow! Damn, I can't stand the suspense!!
  • We used to rub gold rings on the backs of our hands all the time when we were younger. It always makes a black mark. We used to say it meant you had low iron levels. I actually don't konw what causes that reaction... maybe a reaction with skin oils?
  • My initials are "KP" so my first reaction to the beginning of this was, " Now hold on here! I did NOT send Lefty this e-mail....At least I don't think I sent Lefty this e-mail."...LOL
  • pas71--we use to do that too. And last night when I was reading the email I was trying to figure out why that sounded so familiar...thanks for helping me ;)

Karen--that's funny my best friend's initials are KP (and that is what we call her) and I just sent her the blog on deodorant yesterday and then that email...I was wondering if it was her...but honestly she doesn't wear lipstick or have time to care...lol
  • it was me who sent the email (my first & middle name is kristen paige).... : )

i thought it was pretty crazy too, but it's annoying how no matter how much you have your smarts and wits about you, stuff like this gets to you!!
  • ps - thanks so much to the brains for tackling this one
  • kpaige--thanks for solving this mystery! lol
