What odor turns men on the most?
  • The answer to the poll question just posted today. Did you get it right? Do you think that is really the odor that turns men on?

I'm a little skeptical of the study. It seems you could turn some men on with just about anything. Just ask Sarah!
  • I'll admit that I did not get it right. I picked the buttered popcorn.

My husband doesn't buy it at all. He likes pumpkin pie, too, so it's not like he's "anti-pumpkin"...LOL

Did anyone else ask their boyfriend or husband for their reaction to the results?
  • I don't even remember what I voted for so I obviously I didn't feel strongly about any of the the choices. I do remember thinking that pumpkin pie and lavender were an odd combination.
  • I got it right, but only because I read the study before it was a poll!
  • I got it right, but ditto to the reason of the person commenting before me. But yeah, I don't think this is that universal - the scents that turn my man on the most are more tropical-y: BBW Coconut Lime Verbena, Max Mara perfume, etc.... He even really likes Glade's Tropical Mist. :D
  • The best results I've gotten from perfume was mixing the now-defunct creme brulee with a musky Amber-Myrrh scent.
  • C'mon, AnonymousBlonde: You can't stop there!!!
  • I have been researching this for years ladies!!!!! It's Grapefruit and the research has been done by the medical establishment (places like Monell smell institue in philadelphia).

I have a solid perfume that smells like grapefruit and the men (well the FEW that have gotten close enough) have LOVED it and I'm sold. It's all natural anyway, and the company that makes it says that natural scents work better than artificial (I believe that).
Here's the like and they are sooo cute, called a "perfume slider" http://www.aromaprescriptions.com/perfume_sliders_s/50.htm
and their cheap too less than 10 bucks and it'll last at least a year or so.
  • I have to admit I'm primarily concerned with how much I like the way a perfume smells. I won't wear something if my husband doesn't like but mostly I think about where I'm going and the mood I'm in when I'm deciding what perfume to wear. I wonder if there are other perfumes out there with grapefruit in it. It doesn't sound very appealing.
  • In the summer, I use an after-shower spray from GAP that definitely has strong grapefruit overtones because it just smells so fresh to me but I don't think my husband has ever even commented on it. Hmmm.

I don't use fragrances that he doesn't like either. My boys used be particularly brutal about it when they were younger. Nothing like getting into the car to go somewhere as a family, when you're all dressed up, and them going, "Eeewww".
  • I missed that poll! what were the choices?
I thought I once read somewhere that guys like the vanilla smell.....?
From my rather limited dating experiences, most guys seemed to like the "just stepped out of a shower" smell. I guess you can interpret that in many ways!
  • Well, my husband has now decided he hates all of my perfume except Burberry London and Pure by Alfred Sung....I haven't had a bottle of Pure in years. He really used to like Japanese Cherry Blossom from BBW. I hate that he has such a sensative nose!
  • I only remember buttered popcorn and pumpkin pie.
  • I'm new here.Greetings from switzerland

  • This is a good one, I do think tastes completely different. Whenever hubbies come shopping with their women for perfume at my work, they all seem to have different ideas. Some like the tropical, some the spicy, some the fruity, some the floral, some the woodsy, some the watery, some the citrusy. If I had to choose something to represent the majority, it would the be the light floral with a bit of fruitiness. It seems to appeal to most men because it's so unobtrusive and girl next door. But then again that might just be the ones I've met. I will say whenever I've worn scents like that I'd gotten appreciative sniffs from boys that tell me my perfume smells nice, but if I wear my signature spicy intense scents, I hear that I smell good, rather than my perfume. Moral of my story, wear what you like and what makes you happy. It will probably be your swagger and confidence that attracts them in the first place.
