How much is too much??
  • Hey gals,
I was thinking about creating a simpler "makeup row" in my room. So I was counting this morning all the things I'll need. I wanna know what you think about it and whether I'm missing anything. So here goes:

    1 liquid foundation
    1 Concealer
    1 Compact powder
2 Blushers (pink and brownish )
NB: I use this stuff on occasions i'm not much of a makeup person. I'm not very fair. I can say medium :) I love to wear purple but purple lipstick sucks on me.

5 lipsticks (red, fuschia, pink, nude, lilac)
    2 lipgloss (pink and nude)
1 black eyeliner, 3 eyeliners colored (say blue, purple green)
1 Black mascara (I don't know whether it's my skin colour or what, but brown mascara makes no difference at all to me, same look)
An eyeshadow palette (I wouldn't mind 40 colours as long as they are in pallette and not scattered everywhere as mine are now :D )

Nail polish (dark red, fuschia, white and rose for french (or alone) , lilac) I hate glittery nail polish

So ladies, what about you, what do u think?? :D
  • Those would work for me. I also couldn't do without a mattifying sunscreen, eyeshadow  primer, a nice loose finishing powder (I love my Lumiere Island Sands) and a couple of skunk/stippling brushes- powders and blushes just sweep on with luminescence using those.
  • You'd have to be a lot more disciplined than I am to make this work. I can show you 5 different nude lipsticks and explain how they're all different and why they're all necessary.  Here's my system: space is the limiting factor; when I run out of room in my traincase, I prune. I have a set of core products that never changes and then there's the fun, trendy stuff (eye makeup and lip products) that's the most likely to get tossed when it's time to clean house.

Like most people, I tend to hang onto products longer than I should, but I am very careful with eye makeup. A 40 color pallette sounds like fun but I'd probably keep it too long because I'd feel guilty about throwing out something so expensive and I'd probably only use 8 or 10 of the colors. I'd rather  buy smaller pallettes or individual shadows more frequently. There are always fun, new colors to play with and I can toss them at the end of the season without feeling guilty about it.

Nail polish is in it's own category. It's the thing I'm most likely to buy and I rarely throw it out so the nail polish collection is a little out of control. The idea of only having 5 polishes is enough to make me cry.
