I was wondering if SLS and SLES really is aggravating my seborrheic dermatitis? I get this burning itch with scabs, when I was doing the co-wash only method my scalp was shinny and healthy. I co-wash every day but when my scalp was doing so well I would stretch it to about 3 days. Well I started using shampoo again because I was doing the method on http://www.tightlycurly.com/welcome/ now I am noticing around my hair line flaky and scabby skin.
I don't exactly understand your question as worded but if you're wondering whether SLS or SLES can aggravate your skin, the answer is Yes. Whether they actually are irritating your skin is a different question. I don't really know.
SLS can be irritating to skin if left on too long and some people are more sensitive than others. If you want a more gentle shampoo, try J&J Baby shampoo. It cleans hair and is much less harsh. Don't worry that they call it a "baby" shampoo. It works for adults too.
Yes it definitely does it is one of the most irritating products found in personal care products. Have you tried Nizoral (it comes in a blue bottle and is with dandruff shampoo at all drugstores, walmart, target) that is what my doctor recomended to get rid of mine, it worked wonders, and you only use it every 3 days, the other days you can just use a sulfate-free shampoo. On the cheep end Loreal makes a great one called Everpure and higher end TIGI S-Factor line is excellent (thats what I use). Hope that helps you those sores are so annoying. Also when mine were really bad I used Neutrogena Triple Moisture Active Soothing Shampoo and Conditioner (I dont know if they are SLS free but the helped me with those sores) in combination with the Nizoral. If the Nizoral doesn't help in a few weeks I would go to the Dermatologist.
