What type of chemistry (or research) best supports a transition to cosmetic science
  • Hello,

I'd like to one day get into cosmetics (actually design and make my own brand) but currently I'm interviewing to work in the industry (not cosmetics) as a chemist. Most of the jobs are synthesis positions and/or analytical. They both utilize spectroscopic methods and other characterizations. So my question is this: Which position will best aid me in cosmetic science analytical or synthesis. I know there are may facets and disciplines in cosmetic science but being that i have not worked in the field I just wanted to know what type of research would give me the better skillset. Thanks.

    Sincerely,
    TG
  • A job as a synthesis chemist would be most applicable if you eventually want to get into making cosmetic products.
