Is there any way (without surgery) to tighten skin around the jaw and neck area to reduce the appearance of a double chin? I am currently trying to lose weight but I'm curious if there is anything out there that is known to tighten facial skin naturally. Also, I have a naturally round face and always wanted more prominent cheekbones ... could tightening/firming the facial skin help the cheek bones to pop out better? Thanks.
I've seen the procedure and results for Thermage on shows like Oprah. It does tighten the skin around the neck area but it's not a permanent solution. You have to get it done periodically. You can get a pretty good idea of what the results look like on dermatologists' websites from the before and after pictures. I'm not sure about how it might affect your cheekbones. I've never heard or read that it had any additional benefits.
And be wary of creams and lotions that claim to tighten skin. At best all they give you is a temporary effect by depositing a film forming agent on your skin. As the product dries you feel the film pull on your skin. But there's no lasting benefit.
Yea, I don't know of any long-term solutions, but a good short-term solution may be the neck cream by Be Fine. Some of the interesting ingredients include mushroom extracts for firming and Iris flower for tightening. There have been a lot of good reviews for this product online and also on the company's feedback section called Soapbox. The website is www.befine.com . I have tried their other products and have been really happy with them. The price also isn't too bad at $23.99. You can buy it on their website or at CVS.
THIS too is only temporary...but here goes anyway...my HUSBAND uses mashed up ripe bananas on his skin and like MAGIC his forehead wrinkles disappear. Amazing if only temporary. I have also heard you can add avocado to the bananas and it is even better.
I can live with the effects of age and gravity. I think you do the best you can to take care of your skin (not smoking, using sunscreen, blah, blah, blah) but ultimately we're all getting older and it's going to show. I can live with that. What I wish I could do something about is the damage done by having two babies. I had two very large babies and gained a lot of weight during both pregnancies. I've lost all the weight and I'm in good shape because I exersize but my stomach is gross. I'm going to look into the laser treatment mid-brain wrote about yesterday. I probably won't go through with it but I'm curious about what it costs and how good the results are.
Cate, that is my husband's OTHER use for bananas...bread of muffins which are to die for. He only does the mask when he has overbought bananas and already has 3 loaves already in the freezer.
There's a lot of info on microcurrent treatments. The current mimics the body's own electrical currents and retrains the muscles to lift the way they did before gravity attacked. This usually takes 6 or so sessions and a monthly maintenence program. Sorry no quick or cheap fix, but this is a easy/painless treatment.
