The truth about facial care!
  • Is there a difference between "scrub" and "gentle exfoliating facial wash"?
I assume from texture that exfoliating washes are milder than regular scrubs but I dunno if it's true. I am also concerned about daily use. I used to scrub daily until i read online at http://www.drhauschka.com/about/7-facts/
that scrubbing strips natural protection. Since then I decided not to scrub daily "until further notice" :D
So are any scrubs suitable for daily use, and it is better to scrub or wash with exfoliation daily anyway or the less frequent the better??
On the same page they mentioned avoiding night creams? How much of that is true??
  • All you have to do is feel the grains to find out. I've used scrubs that are supposedly for the body but have round gentle grains and I've used scrubs that are supposedly for the face but have harsh anngular grains. The amount of grains in an aqueous solution also helps determine how harsh it will be, if there are more, it will be easier to overscrub with it.

As for the night cream, your skin during the day focuses most of it's energies on protecting itself from the sun and other environmental assaults. It still has energy to use at night, but very little to protect itself from, so it starts to repair damage and bolster it's defenses for the next day.
If you wear sunscreen, your skin's daytime work is done, so it repairs itself during the day too.

The logic behind using specialized night products is that if you use something very antioxidant and anti-irritant rich that helps your skin perform it's functions better. It doesn't have to be a night cream, I like to use a lightweight serum, but because I wear sunscreen during the day, I wear my serum during the day too. That would be my suggestion.
