Bumps on back of legs
  • I get bumps on the backs of my thighs. Often they seem to be ingrown hairs or dead skin, but I haven't figured out how to stop them. I have tried shaving less, not shaving at all, and shaving frequently, and none of them did anything. (As a side note, in high school I had a friend with a similar problem on her upper arms, so I'm guessing it's not shaving-related.) I do use lotion, but can't use it that often because of skin sensitivities.

Any ideas on what is going on or possible solutions? Thanks!
  • Have you tried exfoliating?  Some others on the forum have a very common, harmless skin condition called keratosis pilaris.  http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/keratosis-pilaris/DS00769  It causes bumps on the upper arms and thighs.  Your best bet, though, is to ask a dermatologist to look at it and give you a diagnosis.

  • Thank you so much for the info on KP. You're right, I should ask my dermatologist - don't know why I didn't think of that.
  • I have the same and it sounds like Keratosis Pilaris. Talk to your dermatologist.
