I thought Judy's review of Prive Shampoo & Conditioner was great fun. She confessed to being "wantonly promiscuous" in regards to her loyalty to specific shampoo & conditioner products. I think that is so true for many of us when it comes to cosmetics and other related beauty products. I know I go through periods where I think I'm in LOVE with something.....and then, I suddenly move on to something else.
So here's my question: Is there any one product that you have remained faithful to for a fairly long period of time?
Well, I've used Dove bar soap in the shower for ... I guess as long as I can remember. I've had flings and affairs with other soaps and sometimes bodywashes, but I ALWAYS go back to Dove soap. My skin is always a thousand times softer with it, and I rarely get dry skin while using it. One of my more recent affairs with a "moisturizing" bodywash made me think that there'd be a similar effect, but nope. It doesn't seem to matter which bar of Dove I use, either, it can be any of their little flavors and it works for me.
I just went to Dove's website and it says the bars are 1/4th moisturizing lotion. I seem to recall at one point they used 1/3rd. Huh.
Shampoos and conditioners I'm far less loyal to. In the past I've used... Pantene, Herbal Essences, Redken, Paul Mitchell, Suave, Alberto v05, and probably a few others. Most recently, I've used Herbal Essences for a year, and then a month ago I tried J/A/S/O/N brand shampoo and conditioner. For the first time I've found a brand of shampoo and conditioner that I like so much I think I might become loyal to them too. Either way, I'm stuck with them for awhile, since I ordered 13 bottles of J/A/S/O/N online since it was half the price of what I'd pay at Whole Foods even after you added shipping!
I'm very faithful to my skincare products but I'm a total slut when it comes to hair care products and cosmetics.
Karen, I know exactly what you mean about thinking you're in love with something and then suddenly moving on. I'm truly embarrassed by all the lipsticks that I've seduced and abandoned. I throw myself at them shamelessly, cooing in their little lipstick ears, "You're soooo pretty! The prettiest lipstick ever. So smooth and shiny. And the color! I've never seen anything like it! You and I will never be apart. I'll wear you everyday, I swear!" And then all the fall collections come out and I stray. I'm so ashamed.
well I am loyal to my moisturizer
Estee Lauder DayWear plus SPF 15 lotion
I arrived to it after being a "slut" and trying everything I could get my hands on, and It works great for me
besides I love the texture, the fragrance and the feel
for lipsticks I am a total slut, a cheap one, I only have the ones that come on the "free gift with purchase"
although I discovered I like lancome's lipsticks smell and texture, not enough to pay for them though
Dermalogica skin care line, especially the new Age Smart line.
Jane Iredale minerals.
Garnier Fructis shampoo and conditioner and all their styling products.
A Natural Difference pumpkin exfoliant.
Entity nail products.

I thought about having an affair with the Shu Eumera version, but nahhhh.. DHC's version is just so much cheaper and works so so well.
um.. Shampoo wise, I'm pretty loyal to Prive and Joico.. for the longest time I was loyal to Wella, but then they discontinued the line I was using (it smelled like grapefruit!).. I switched around a lot, but Prive and Joico are my true lovers now.
I just feel that there's so much products to use and try, and there's this desire for me to try them all! ALL!!!
I may be promiscuous with shampoo and conditioner but I am boringly faithful to my Mabelline Great Lash and my Neutrogena Ultra-Sheer Sunblock which I use as a day moisturizer. Oddly enough when I was a teen I missed out on all that experimentation so I am catching up NOW thanks to the BB Forum. Life's too short not to have some fun with beauty products! However, I must admit that it is skin products rather than make-up that I spend most of my beauty budget on.
I'm fairly promiscuous with hair care products too- especially with conditioners... though I've been trying to force myself to cut down on that and just have a few (2 or 3 max) faves to rotate through- i'm running out of room in the shower!!
However, after many years of trial and error with skincare, I finally found things that work well for me and they are my tried & true daily staples:
Paula Begoun's Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion SPF 15
Paula Begoun's Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Concentrate Serum
Depending on the season- I use Paula's Skin Balancing Moisture Gel in the evenings in the summer/spring, and in the wintertime- her HydraLight Moisture-Infusing Lotion (evening again)
DHC Deep Cleansing Oil
Avon Dual Cleasning face wash with tricolosan (an antibacterial) (sadly avon just DC'd it- so the only other cleanser i know w/ tricolosan in it is one by clean & clear and I'll switch to that once i run out)
St. Ives apricot scrub
softlips lipbalm w/ SPF 20 (under my glass/lipstick during the day). I go through all kinds of random ones in the evening...since I don't need the sunscreen then, I experiment more w/ others.
Origins Quick, Hide! concealer in very light
CG TruBlend Powder Foundation SPF 15 in ivory. ( i apply it with a big fluffy brush instead of the sponge and it goes on very natural-looking.)
Completely a Ho when it comes to lipsticks and eyeshadows. Wanton rampant sluttiness there. Oh and with facial masks too.
I'm not sure if I'm loyal to anything... I love trying new things. A lot of times I go back to the products that I know and love, but I'm also always trying new things. I have about a gazillion moisturizers right now, all of which I like, but I just bought 2 new ones because I love to try new stuff! It's bad. I think I'm just a creature of change. I just moved to a totally new city a year and a half ago and I'm already ready to go somewhere else!
I think DHC Deep Cleansing Oil followed by Cetaphil are the best products to wash my face at night. Nothing gets makeup off like the DHC product and Cetaphil leaves my skin feeling soft.
I have tried skipping the DHC Deep Cleansing oil; I have also switched to other gentle face washes but the end results are never as good.
DHC Cleansing Oil + Cetaphil = the perfect face cleansing routine for me!
I LOVE trying new products so I'm faithful to few...
Smashbox's tinted lip treatment lipstick in Beam is something I'm definitely developing an affinity toward.
I'm also beginning a love affair with Urban Decay's 24/7 eye pencils!
potentavive--I was playing with those yesterday at ULTA...loved them, didn't buy any though. I had so many things to choose frrom...but perhaps after the holiday
