I have thin, dry, brittle hair and I currently use different deep conditioners, hair masks, and treatments trying to find which will help moisturize and and repair my hair.
What are the differences between
Deep conditioners
Hair treatment masques
Reconstructing creams
and everything else claiming to be better than regular conditioner.
Depends entirely on the brand, as even formulations for the same types are different. Most contain silicones, lanolin and their derivatives, which improve hair feel and offer some conditioning factors by providing an occlusive film that would smooth out damaged hair and protect it somewhat. Most contain moisturisers as well to enrich the hair. Some contain certain actives like silk proteins to strengthen hair.
So the choice is yours really and your standpoint on ingredients. I'm honestly not sure from a personal standpoint as my hair never needs heavy therapy and I don't entirely trust the brand facts, as most are consumer reviews and not based on extensive scientific study. That said maybe i could dig something up on these ingredients. Though for your hair type it would be unwise to treat your hair more than once a week, as it will weigh your hair down and as Cheryl Cole says, it'll be "limp and lifeless".
I'm going to assume that you process your hair a lot (straighten, blowdry, colour), since the way you've described your hair and that you've told us you've used different media implies that you're not entirely satisfied they're working. If this is true maybe you could find a way to improve the quality of your hair through more preventative means.
Also, have a look at your nails. Since they're made of the roughly the same tissue as your hair, if you have brittle, weak nails that are off-colour and swollen cuticles then it could be a dietary problem.
I have had good luck with using Extra Virgin Coconut Oil once a week as a deep conditioner. One jar will last a long time. I also add just a dab (less than pea-sized) to soaking wet hair before I begin to style my hair. It helps a lot. My hair is wavy/curly, a hair type that tends to be drier anyway. My scalp is normal.
As tom_guys85 says it would be unwise to do deep conditioning more than once a week though. It will weigh your hair down.
I had the same issues....I found a great Hair Treatment by LAVEVE....it had Argan Oil in it like Moroccan Oil but less expensive and you get more for your money. I have using it for the past two months and I have gotten great results. And I swear my hair has even grown from the use. Go to http://www.laveve.com .....they also have a 20% off coupon code H7264......
They also have the PURE Argan Oil too which I use on my nails and feet and wrinkles too.....LOVE IT!
Just be aware that you can't repair hair, you can only protect it from future breakage. If you have split ends, it's best to do more frequent trims (and you might have to sacrifice a bit of length at first in order to trim off any damaged ends you have). Also--ask your doctor just to be sure you don't have any general health reason for the hair being thin and breakable (thyroid issues, vitamin deficiency, etc).
