Kora Organic Skincare
  • Hi, I'm wondering if anyone had any views on the Kora Organic Skincare range (http://www.koraorganics.com/). I've looked at a couple of forums for reviews, but perhaps the range is new as there doesn't seem to be many people on the forums who have tried it. Although, I came across one person who commented that Noni juice causes liver damage.

I've been using Paula's Choice HydraLight Moisture-Infusing Lotion, which I quite like, but I'm nearly out and wondering whether the price of the Kora Hydrating Day & Night Cream is worth it (double the price of HydraLight).

The ingredients for the Kora Hydrating Day & Night Cream are listed as: aqueous extract of Rosa damascene (Rose), Camellia thea (green tea), Morinda Citrifolia (noni) fruit and leaf, Matricaria chamomilla (Chamomile), Rosa centifolia (Rose), Laminaria japonica (brown kelp), Duvillea podoratum (Bull Kelp), Rosa Eglanteria oil (Rose Hip), Macadamia Integrifolia seed oil (Macadamia Oil), Persea gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Olivoyl hydrolysed wheat protein, Glyceryl oleate, Sodium hyalonurate, Polygonum extract, Mangifera indica (Mango) butter , Omega 6 fatty acids (Vitamin F), Natto Gum (amino Acid), Glyceryl stearate, Bisabolol, Pomegranate Sterols, Beta carotene (Vitamin A), Ascorbyl palmitate (Vitamin C), d-alpha Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Vitis Vinifera (grapeseed) Oil, Hippophae rhamnoides (sea buckthorn) Oil, Lecithin (GMO free), Macrobiotic sea salt, Lactic acid, Chondras crispus (carageenan) ,Rosa damascene (Rose), Jasminium officinalis (Jasmine), Benzyl alcohol, dehydroacetic acid.

    Many thanks!
  • I have never heard about this company.

Ok. let's look at the ingredients and what do they mean:

aqueous extracts- are mostly water. Don't expect to get any benefit. Green Tea extract (antioxidant) could be beneficial, but it is probably very diluted (the concentration is not listen).
Rosehip oil, Macadamia, Avocado, Wheat protein, Mango butter, grapeseed oils- are emolients, that soften and smooth the skin.
Glyceryl Oleate - used as an emollient and thickening agent.
Sodium Hyalorunate (Hyaluronic acid)- acts as humectant (but isn't superior to glycerin or propylene glycol; note: it is not the same injectable-grade hyaluronic acid!)
Omega 6 fatty acids- many oils contain these, it probably has no function in this cream.
Natto gum- is a fermentation product of soy protein; viscosity Increasing agent.
    Glyceryl Stearate, Lecithin - emulsifiers.
Bisabolol- has anti- inflammatory, anti- irritant properties.
Pomegrenate Sterols - can have some antioxidant activity, but concentration is far too small.
Beta carotene- coloring agent, has antioxidants properties (but here probably just gives color to product)
Vitamin C and Tocopherols - as natural preservatives
    Lactic acid - ph adjuster
Macrobiotic sea salt - is a sodium chloride.Thickener.
    Carageenan- thickener
Rose and Jasmine (at the end of list) are perhaps fragrance ingredients.
    Benzyl Alcohol, dehydroacetic acid- preservatives

''Most manufacturers like to throw lots of these “feature” ingredients in the formula just so they have something to talk about and to show their formula are different.'' (from one Beauty Brains post).

This product lacks of good preservatives, so It seems, it has a short shelf life.

I can't see anything special about this product. It is just one simple overrated moisturizer.

Noni juice (what is that?) is not likely to harm you, but also will not give any benefit too.

In general, organic and natural skin care products are not better choice. They are just another marketing ''fairy tale''.
