Is scrunching hair every day bad?
And, if I do... Do I have to wash it every day?
Right now I'm using Pantene Curly Series: Pantene Pro-V Curl Shaping Gel. It smells great and I love it, but people tell me gel is bad for hair over time.
Idk, just curious and I wanna make sure. :P
Just a forum member but I do use gel every day in my hair when I scrunch it. I have wavy/curly hair. I clean my hair daily but only use shampoo every third day. I conditioner wash with a no silicone conditioner on the days I do not use shampoo. The shampoos I use have no sulfates because my scalp doesn't react well to sulfates.
The Pantene gel you mention sounds fine to me. It does have a silicone but it is a water soluble one. That means it will rinse out of your hair. You don't have to use sulfates to remove it.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with second day hair if you can manage it. I clean my hair every day to remove allergens. The book by Lorraine Massey The Curly Girl Handbook has a wealth of information for girls with wavy and curly hair.
So basically, in my opinion, scrunching your hair with gel on a daily basis is not bad for your hair. This has been my hair care method for over 2 years now and my hair looks better, has less frizz and I am happier with the results. If you have wavy/curly hair, as I suspect from your question, then you really should not use shampoo daily because wavy/curly hair is drier than straight hair. The website and the book I mentioned explain all that. Those are the sources I used myself.
