What blogs do you read???
  • I'm assuming most of you found your way here from a beauty blog of some sort, so I'd love to hear what your favorite blogs are!

I really like beauty blogs better than fashion magazines, since they seem to have more substance and address real issues, instead of just the usual celebrity gossip and how to please a man articles you get in women's magazines. Lately, I really like galadarling.com. She's so optimistic and cool! It's nice to find people on the internet who seem genuinely nice and put a smile on your face.

So what are your favorite blogs???
  • I adore:

    All Lacquered Up
    Beauty Addict
    Blogdorf Goodman

I love that these bloggers are even more enamored with make-up and I trust their judgment. They're "From The Gut" bloggers, KWIM? I love the Beauty Brains for knocking the wind out the hype sails but you know, sometimes that fancy tube or packaging is what really sells the product for me (ugh, I fall for the hype!).

I still love getting Allure and Glamour in the mailbox. I read them while exercising. Makes the hour go by quickly!
  • I read:

    Budget Fashionista
    Beauty Brains (duh)
    Paula Begoun (not blog)
    Fashionable Housewife
I used to read the Sartorialist because I loved the photos but I guess I needed advice as to how to look like the fabulous people that he shot on the streets of NY and Europe
  • I love that I can get non-biased, in-depth reviews from beauty blogs.

    I read:

    Beauty Brains (heehee!)
http://www.jolieinnyc.com/ (doesn't update quite as often, but good reviews regardless)
Bag Snob (not really beauty) and Beauty Snob (the only thing is that I find most of the products the snobs reviewed are wayyy too expensive for most people.)
Beauty Addict (my gateway into Beauty Brains and...)
Blogdorf Goodman (I loved their 30 days and 30 nights Brand review)
    Makeup Bag
and Elke Von Freudenberg (i really dislike her new layout.. navigation is all over the place, and it's way tooo cluttered)

I try to keep a blog up, but lately it's just been me ranting.. I got overzealous and decided to take 2 6-week summer courses so I can be done with my undergrad ASAP, so I didn't really have time to write/review. But anyhow.. the address is "gloriayang.net", so it's pretty personal as in.. I write about anything that comes through my head/part of my life. So that includes beauty stuff, school issues, asian american issues, celebrities (more analysis than anything else), etc. Please visit when you guys have a chance and leave me a message!
  • I'm a huge fan of Go Fug Yourself (http://gofugyourself.typepad.com/go_fug_yourself/). It's more a fashion blog, not a beauty blog, but it's hysterical and on more than one occasion has made me laugh so hard I practically spit coffee all over my laptop.

I also read Faking Good Breeding (http://fakinggoodbreeding.blogspot.com/). She's a smart blogger putting out down to earth, good stuff.

And, while not a blog, I keep up on Paula Begoun's product reviews. I'm not always in agreement, but since I got her books and started following some of her advice, I've actually gotten compliments on my skin and makeup. Trust me, this says something about what she's saying, because I was a MESS with a capital M before. :-)
  • Faking good breeding is also one of my favs! She's a pretty thoughtful writer and gets beyond the product reviews to issues that are actually pretty important and interesting. I actually really appreciate when she writes something that isn't strictly beauty related. She does a good job too, when she makes clothing suggestions, of incorporating pictures and links from different sites. She has a lot of good ideas. I hope she goes into journalism or somewhere where she can really exhibit her talent.
  • 15 minute beauty fanatic is good. Her tag line is "a high maintenance girl in search of an easier beauty routine", which pretty much sums it up for me. I also like The Non-Blonde.
  • This one, of course.

    Cuteoverload.com

    Stuffonmycat.com

    Stuffonmymutt.com

    Stuffonmyrat.com

    Macrocats.com

    Rosie.com

    Postsecret.com

    prairielandherbs.blogspot.com

    nataliedee.com

    toothpastefordinner.com

    yelp.com

    Not blogs, but really handy:

    junglecrazy.com

    retailmenot.com

    bugmenot.com
  • If I were to read all those blogs I would never get to bed or to work on time!

TailFeather--stuffonmycat.com sometimes makes me sad. My friend's boyfriend will randomnly post a picture from it on my myspace page. They are usually the really mean ones with tin foil on them :(
  • Really? Mario would never post a picture of a cat or dog he thought was being harmed in any way. Are you sure you don't mean Icanhascheeseburger.com? I don't go there anymore.

Since these are mostly picture blogs there isn't much "reading". I just need my daily doses of "awwww" and ohmygodhowcute!"
  • lol! No it's definitely stuffonmycat.com Cats don't like stuff on them! Just ask mine! Itry to put nice fun stuff on her all the time, but she rejects my affections! She's great though...extra digits and all...she can hold a pen!
  • Ha! Extra digit-y kitties are cool. I have a friend that had a 6 toed one that could catch a mini frisbee! I think the trick to catching a kitty to put stuff on them is do it when they're asleep and can't be bothered to protest :)
  • I have to limit the amout of blogs I read or I'd never get anything done. I'm a woman with a family budget so I like to read blogs that can tell you how to look good for less money.

    The Beauty Brains (((Beauty Brains)))
    The Budget Fashionista
    Miss Smarty Pants

I've got to check out that Fashionable Housewife!
  • Hi LuckyGirl :)

Ya'll should check out Daily Candy and sign up for deals on all kinds of stuff. Daily Candy
  • This seems right up our alley:
    thedermblog.com/
It's a blog by a dermatologist. I haven't had a chance to poke around too much but it covers some great topics and it's well written.  Some of the entries seem familar but it may just be that the topics are familar. I think the Beauty Brains have written about CoffeeBerry and the girl who was allergic to water. Anyway, it looks like a good source of information about subjects that are near and dear to all of us -- science and beauty.

  • Oh, Purple: I REALLY like this blog! Thanks for sharing!
    Here's a good one:
    http://thedermblog.com/2008/04/09/how-to-save-money-on-facial-moisturizers-stop-washing-your-face/
  • I just found a new blog that I thought you might enjoy. It's by a dermatologist Leslie Baumann. http://health.yahoo.com/experts/skintype/

This is another forum (related to the Baumann site) that is all about skin care, especially problem skins. http://www.skintypesolutions.com/forum/index.php
It has lots of recommendations about which products work, and don't work for people with sensitive skin. Mine has been very sensitive. I'd been using the Principle Secret Reclaim skin line and I think it over exfoliated my skin :(
  • I mostly just read Peculiar Beauty. I peek at some of the others but mostly feel to intimidated by them to say anything. Probably because the people who run them seem to know so much about beauty and style that I feel like a mud-covered clumsy country bumpkin dropped magically into the middle of a ball at Buckingham Palace.
  • I like BellaSugar.com and that's how i got to know about BB. they do weekly links section as well and that's how i discover other beauty blogs. though i hasn't been too godo lately, just glamour allure, lucky and jezebel... yawn.
  • Apocalypstick Now
    FMyLife
    StyleBakery
Fuck You, Penguin  (startling name, but very funny and sarcastic blog about cute animals written Onion style)
    babyassface
    Futurederm
vaguebuttrue (very funny comedian who does a bit on the animal conspiracy)
  • These days, I'm mostly reading nail polish blogs:
    The Polish Addict
    The Nailphile
    Scrangie
For humor or my daily dose of cute:
    Cake Wrecks
    The Daily Otter
    Daisy Owl
    Nedroid
It seems like many of the beauty blogs have fizzled out. Has anybody else noticed that? There are fewer of them and the ones that remain are updated less frequently. I don't know if it's because of the recession or blogger burnout or what but I'd swear that fewer bloggers are gushing about MAC's collection du jour.
