Biotin Supplement
  • Hello all, I'm excited to be here and grateful for all the advice and info available.
I recently damaged my hair (bleach!) and had to chop it all off, so now I'm stuck with short curly hair, very frizzy and unmanagable, and I'm trying to be good to it and grow it out again. I just bought Biotin 1000mcg suppplement, and wanted to know if anyone else takes it? what's the recommended dose? the bottle says to take one pill a day, but I've heard that it's more effective to take at least 3.
    Thanks
    :)
  • Biotin is just a 'B' vitamin and although most people don't get enough of this particular vitamin in their diet by itself it will not grow hair. If you have a deficiency of this vitamin you may notice an increase in hair growth BUT only up to your maximum growth rate. Its better to eat a good diet drink lots of water and take a Multi-Vitamin and mineral supplement containing biotin.
  • BeautyBear is right. Make sure you are getting proper nutrition. Your hair will grow but it is going to take time. While it is growing out deep conditioning once a week would be a good idea. If you have curly hair it will make your hair much  easier to manage if you take care of it.

You can find lots of information on curly hair care at naturallycurly.com. There is also a book titled The Curly Girl Handbook written by Lorraine Massey that contains good information.

    Good luck!
