which products do you use for your baby ? natural or not?
  • Hello everyone,

I am a young mother and a scientist as well.....

I was wondering what are the type of products you love using for your baby? I would like to hear the type of products you really enjoy the most for your little one? if you have a miracle cream or bath or anything, I am happy to hear all the good advices you provide me !!!! I would love to test a super brand for my daughter as I am not always happy with what I use.
Also, do you fancy more natural vs non natural products?

I look forward to hearing from you !!!!!!

  • Real "Natural" is a mostly a myth, most natural ingredients are "derived" from natural sources and have gone through some processing.
For instance, Water used in cosmetic preparations is generally de-ionized water (Aqua) rather than "natural organic" water such as rain which is slightly acidic and may contain impurities disolved from the atmospere.
Natural oils like essential oils may be pure but can have a sentisizing action on skin especially very sensitive baby skin.
Synthetic ingredients have often alarming names but have been well tested so can be assumed to be safe but surf the internet for information and the many opinions and make your own decisions. For me personally, water and mild soaps and avoid contact with harsh agents like the sun or washing detergents (rinse, rinse, rinse as my mother used) to say, for as long as possible..
  • use oils. babies generally don't need skincare at all. so use something very simple to cleanse and stop there.
  • I used Dove cleansing bar and Baby Magic Baby lotion on our kids. (I am not even sure they still make Baby Magic baby lotion!) Ally is right, less is better!
  • great thanks for your reply so far.....
and as shampoo and cream? anything particular? looking at ingrediends or just trusting "baby " brands?
  • Baby shampoos work well because if you do happen to get some into the baby's eyes it won't sting and burn. If the baby happens to get 'cradle cap' you use a dandruff shampoo like Selsun Blue. You do have to be super careful if you have to use it. You cannot let that get into the baby's eyes. (Actually that prospect made ME so nervous I enlisted my husband's help and we did those shampoos together. Thankfully it did not take doing it many times to get rid of the problem!)

Cream? As in diaper cream? Uh...you really don't need it. Just keep your baby clean and dry and he or she will do just fine.

    Hope that helps.
