My new skincare regimen (but enough about me)
  • Kind of self-centered, but just wanted to share what is working for my aging, rosacea skin.  I had been using retinol daily which was too much!  I did 3 simple steps that make my skin so much happier, even less fragile looking:
    1) sunscreen with higher zinc oxide content (pure mineral sunscreen is ideal for sensitive skin, but too white on me, so I use chemical-mineral combo products)
    2) retinol product no more than every other night--wow did that help (weird thing is, my wrinkles even look less visible to me than when I was using it daily)
    3) no liquid makeup or tinted moisturizer; powder/mineral only over sunscreen
My skin is looking so much better.  The only problem is that I think with the mineral sunscreen, I'm blocking out even more rays and I'm afraid I'm turning an almost ghostly color (not just from the white cast in the product--but even when it's thorougly washed off).  I don't want a tan, mind you, but I'm afraid I'll ultimately look like a relative of mine who was really obsessive about sun protection and wound up looking like a sheet of paper, really unnatural white.
