Can this acid really be effective in anti-aging topical products? What about in supplements...can it have an effect on skin if taken in a supplement? Have there been any studies showing that it can truly be harnessed and used effectively to rejuvenenate the skin?
I thought it was basically a really good moisturizer. I've never heard of it having an effect if taken orally. You might check out this article by the brains. http://thebeautybrains.com/2008/11/10/does-beauty-jargon-baffle-you-too/
Right--my take is that it will plump up the skin and moisturize well, but that it doesn't really address wrinkling of the skin or UV-induced hyperpigmentation, which are typical aging concerns. While you're using it, it would make wrinkling less noticeable by plumping the skin, but not directly affect the wrinkles. Could be wrong, that is just my impression.
sarahf, you're right, plumping up the skin and making the appearance of the lines less visible is the antiaging thing that hyaluronic acid can do, nothing else.
