I am of Middle Eastern descent; pale enough to need self-tanner, but I do have a yellow undertone to my skin. I've tried some self-tanners that come highly recommended but they either make me orange or, well, like a Caucasian with a tan. I love my skin color, and I'm trying to find a tanner that works with it, not against it. Has anyone found one that works with the yellow undertone? And even if you have my problem, please put the ones you've tried so I know what to avoid!
My most recent mishaps were with L'oreal sublime glow daily moisturizer and Bain de Solei Radiance Eternelle.
Have you tried any that are supposed to be designed for "medium" skintones? Some product lines seem to be divided into separate formulations for fair, medium, and dark skin tones. Not sure that would make a difference though--it might only cause you to look a darker shade of orange:) Also, people seem to have different outcomes with different brands. Light skinned caucasians complain of the orange problem as well, but sometimes experimenting with different brands can yield better results. A lot of people seem to like the jergens buildable ones; you can see how the color is coming out after one or two applications before deciding whether you want to deepen it with additional applications. I believe they do come in light, medium, and dark shades.
The Jergens Daily Glow does comes in three shades and is buildable. The plus with the Jergens is it doesn't have that awful smell, at least on my skin, that sunless tanners tend to have.
i'm caucasian and have yellow undertone. i don't see your point really. you just been trying crappy self tanners, it's not that they are not made for you, they are not made for anyone to look natural. try st moriz or zen tan, those have olive undertones and don't look orange
I noticed that some self-tanners have just DHA, and some have DHA and erythrulose. Not sure whether that makes any difference in the tone you get. Erythrulose has been described on some websites as producing a slightly redder tone than DHA.
