I am 23. My hair is too thin and also it is graying. It is not hereditory as I had pretty good volume before.
I heard about various oils and their benefits. I wanted to try a Ayurvedic recipe on my hair. But before that i want to be sure i dont mess up with it.
Can i use a mixture of Almond oil, Coconut oil, Olive oil, Mustard oil, Rosemary oil and Castor oil. To this I would like to add amla powder, shikakai powder, curry leaves, methi powder and hibiscus flowers. I would boil this mixture, strain it and keep it in a bottle for application.
I would like to know if i am not using any ingredient that would harm my hair in any way. Also i would like to know the quantity in which i can mix them
The Brains had a previous post about using olive oil and coconut oil mixed : http://thebeautybrains.com/2007/05/14/two-natural-oils-that-make-your-hair-shiny-and-strong/
They have also had posts about the dangers of do-it-yourself mixes. The article concerned a product for facial care but still applies: http://thebeautybrains.com/2010/07/17/the-number-1-danger-of-mixing-your-own-cosmetics-2/
In my own limited experience simpler is better. I just use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil weekly for deep conditioning my hair. I tried mixing Extra Virgin Olive Oil with it but I felt that weighed my fine textured hair down too much. Now I save the olive oil for cleaning my facial skin and for mixing in with my body lotion (in the palm of my hand as I am applying it).
If you have noticed thinning hair and it is NOT hereditary (which at your age I would not think it would be) you should go for a checkup with your doctor. Make sure to mention the thinning hair problem and ask to have your thyroid levels checked.
