Aging Gracefully..
  • Where are those days gone where one used to age gracefully.

What on earth is going on these days. I myself use creams and scrubs ...but in moderation so cannot understand the need for botox and god only know what other things celebraties do.

  • I think one can still age gracefully, but more gracefully and more slowly than was once possible.
  • While I wouldn't recommend Botox or cosmetic surgery for regular people, I can understand why celebrities do it.  They rely on their looks for their livelihood.  It's just a fact that the older you get, the less likely you will be (as a celebrity) to get a job.  A $10,000 investment in cosmetic surgery could be the difference between getting a $5,000,000 acting job or not.
  • @ Left Brain - true true true  :)
  • i am for botox and fillers. technology develops these new ways for us to delay aging, so why not take advantage?
  • I am a believer in plastic surgery, fillers, lasers, Thermage, and any technique that can maximize your good looks, especially as we age. Of course it's not for everybody, but for those who want it, I say go for it. Aging gracefully wasn't hard when you only aged to about 65 or so. But today's lifespan leaves us with a whole third of life yet to go, and why go badly? Some people stay fit and eat well as they age, and why shouldn't they look as good as they feel. And as for tampering with nature, why is it okay to tamper with cancer but not sagging skin? Hell, tampering with nature is why we all live so long!  :)
  • I am for lasers (fraxel sounds good), and I may yet open up to plastic surgery.  But so far, I'm not so open to invasive procedures.  Give me 10 years to watch my jowls sag and I may be singing a different tune.
  • My husband is a chemist and he doesn't get all the creams and potions. He will tell me what products won't dry my skin, but the rest he susepcts. I am getting to the point where there is TOO MUCH info to go through to be worth my time. I have taught my daughter preventative care but in my case, the horses have already left the gate. I don't have a problem with plastic surgery except it can be risky - I can tell you that I no longer recognize people I once knew when I see them and it's hard to get past that. My skin care are peels, sunscreen, and moisturizing. The free market is like a free for all when it comes to cosmetics. I saw someone selling a product on TV containing mandelic acid after researching Egyptian heiroglyphs for years and years - geesh! All I had to do was go online!
  • Agreed, it's all too much, and it can get out of control.  Keep it simple.
