what is the best way to get rid of sun spots and wrinkles on the chest?
  • i went to a dermatoligist and he sprayed my chest with some freezing  device. it  took forever to eal and now its blotchy any ideas
  • i took forever to heal . now i am using a cream to get rid of the blotches, but it is slow going. should i consider lazar treatments
  • I would go with your dermatologist's recommendation.  We don't know what kind of sun spots you have (there are lots of different kinds--some can even be pre-cancerous and should be watched by a dermatologist), so a doctor should help you with the decision about your treatment/removal.  As far as wrinkles, to my knowledge, they do respond to fraxel laser, which is very expensive (and like any laser, should be done by someone well qualified).

Skin bleaches, btw, are always very slow to work (months) and require daily use of a broad spectrum sunscreen with spf 30 or higher to work.

  • It's probably not the "best" way, but products with AHAs and retinol will help to diminish the blotchiness.
  • I have been to a dermatoligist and I do not have pre cancerous spots. what i have are blothes  after one derm used a spray to remove my original sun damage. now i have brown and red splotches. I warn anyone not to let a doctor spray liquid notrogin on sun damage. it is very difficult to heal and makes the area look worse
  • Hi Diane,

I'm sorry you had that experience.  Did you have a large area treated with liquid nitrogen?  The only caution I have about telling readers not to ever let a doctor do it is kind of along the lines of "never say never."  I had small lesions frozen off by a doctor (on my face) with virtually no healing time and no permanent skin changes whatsoever.  My skin looked normal within a week.  So it may be okay to let a doctor do it sometimes, just be sure to ask what the side effects might be if you're having a big area done.

  • There's only thing that has gotten rid of sunspots (or mask of pregnancy) on my face and chest and that's an Intensive Pulse Light (IPL) laser treatment. All is took was 2 of them and I'm spot free. They can be a bit pricey (i'm not sure of your area) but when you count all the money spent of creams to do the same thing, it became worth it to me.
  • hi dianekap! are you still using the cream? i remember my aunt used to have sun spots too. then she ordered a spot lightening cream online (i think the name is Metaderm). i saw her last week and i noticed that her spots aren't that obvious anymore. but what did your derma told you about your pre-cancerous spots? i mean do you need clinical treatments for that? i think you should try that metaderm.
