Tips on keeping long hair healthy?
  • So I have LONG highlighted hair, and for the most part I keep it pretty healthy. I deep condition and do hot oil treatments every once in a while, and I only use heat about three times a week WITH a heat protectant. But I was just wondering if you guys had any more tips for me? Products, methods, etc? Thanks a bunch! xoxo
  • My hair is wavy/curly and well below my shoulders in length. I deep condition once a week with Extra Virgin Coconut Oil. I do use heat (ionic tourmaline hair dryer with a diffuser) daily to get the drying process started and set the pattern of the waves and curls. Then I let it air dry.

I clean my scalp and hair daily, but I use only conditioner to wash most days. I use shampoo every third day. I think cutting way back on the shampoo has helped my hair greatly. And, no, my scalp and hair do not smell bad. My husband would tell me if it did!!

I think my hair looks and feels much healthier since I began doing things differently. (I used to shampoo, condition, dry straight....every.single.day.) My hairdresser is impressed too.

  • The Indians use coconut oil. Have a look in Google images. You will be astounded. Their hair is not only long but very shiny.
