We make most of our own cosmetics - and all our soaps and shampoos, many based on shea butter. As it turns out, shea butter contains a natural sunscreen, estimated to be factor 2 to 3.
There are two obvious, available ingredients to use, PABA or Titanium Dioxide to increase this to factor 15, the recommended minimum. Some people feel comfortable with one and shun the other, and others feel just the opposite.
My questions are these:
1. What experiences do you have with either one or the other of these two ingredients - good or bad?
2. What other natural, non-animal ingredients have you experienced that you feel are good (or better!) options to PABA or Titanium Dioxide?
