Super Sensitive Skin
  • Hi,

I'm a 28 year old male with pretty good and HIGHLY senstive skin (recently found out I'm allergic to fragrance and diazolidinyl urea, which is a formaldehyde releaser found in some cosmetic products).

Please help -- I'm looking for any skincare products (specifically a good exfoliator) and hair products (gel, cream, etc.)

    Thank you,
    Max
  • Hi Max,

I would see a dermatologist.  You should ask whether you may have a condition called rosacea that can cause your skin to become red and irritated in association with certain triggers (sun exposure, and some products).  I have it, and I found that after my rosacea was treated (with topical gel), I didn't get irritation from skincare products anymore.  Even if you don't have rosacea, a dermatologist may be able to advise you on what is going on with your skin and how to treat it.

  • Max: If you have really sensitive skin you should be careful about using an exfoliator in the first place! And check the ingredient list on your hair care products for diazolidinyl urea. Also, you might look at the Cosmetic Cop site for recommendation on products that are less irritating.
