Foundation for Over 60
  • I'm 66 and at a complete loss for the best foundation.  Cream or liquid I think but looking for recommendations to bring back some of that dewy skin look I usedto have.
  • One of Chanel's Lumiere foundations definitely.
For mature skin you would want to use liquid foundation so it won't crease or look cakey.
  • I would suggest a tinted moisturizer instead of a foundation. The older I get the more I believe the statement 'less is more' applies when it comes to makeup.

You can go to the makeupalley.com site and check to see what others with the same skin type and age range use and like. I have found it to be a good starting point when looking for new products.

That being said foundation or tinted moisturizer is only going to look as good as the skin you put it on. Maybe it is time to revamp your skin care routine? As we get older our skin changes and what worked even five years ago doesn't work so well anymore. (Speaking from experience here!!)

I hope you find something that will work well for you.
  • Make sure you moisturize well before applying the foundation, and choose a foundation that is moisturizing enough for your (current) skin type.  Some foundations have added luminizers that may help mimic the "dewy" look (the one that comes to mind is lancome's--I think it's called teint miracle).  There are also luminizers that you can mix into your foundation of choice.  Also, even if you don't buy foundation in department stores, trying various foundations on in a high end (service oriented) department store--or a beauty store like sephora--can be helpful.  The makeup artists can show you how to apply your products to get the best effect.  No obligation to buy there if you prefer more reasonably priced items.  With liquid makeup, good brushes and other tools make a big difference in the effect, and being shown how to use them to create the effect you want is a big help.
  • Thanks to all for the great advice.
