I thought we had more than one thread on Carmax.
  • But I can't seem to find them.

Mom saw a news report saying that Carmax - which is her favorite lip balm - has an addictive ingredient in it that makes people use more and more of it. (I never found that true. I can't stand the stuff. Prefer Vasiline's brand even if it's more expensive.) I could've sworn the BBs debunked this awhile ago but when I search for it I can't find anything except the thread about if using lip balm makes your lips drier.
  • Try using an alternate spelling: Carmex (with an e instead of an a).

    Here you go:)

  • Thanks! I suck so much as spelling.

Heh, I also forgot that at the time Vasaline lip balm was cheaper. Last time I bought it it was more expensive than Carmax/Carmex.

But I'm looking for information if Carmex really is the crack cocaine of lip balms. LOL
  • Ah, Carmex. I used to use it constantly because I Ioved the smell and the way it feels. I always had a bit of flaking on my lips, so I kept on using it. Until, I read that some Carmex ingredients can irritate some people's lips and cause flaking or chapping. They are menthol and camphor. And, people don't realize they are reacting to the Carmex, and feel like they need to keep on using it.

I switched to a lip balm that doesn't have those ingredients, or any others that are "cooling", and my flaking went away. Now I only need lip balm in cold weather.

But, yeah, I was addicted, and I still crave that Carmex smell.
