Blow dryer heat
  • Alright, I know this is not a chemistry question, but I have another one related to using the blow dryer.

It seems to me that the heat produced by my blow dryer has varied from one use to the next. Might this be because I am using it at different times of the day, when there are different levels of demand on the electrical power grid? Or, is this a sign that I need a new hair dryer? Or, do I need to call an electrician?

  • Sounds like this is more likely an issue with your blow dryer than your electrical supply. Have you tried cleaning the air filter?
  • I think it can be a sign you need a new blowdryer.  So I've been told--the heating element can go bad and cause uneven heating.
  • Thank you - I'll clean the air filter and shop for a new dryer. I didn't know that about the heating element going bad. Now that I think about it, I probably have dropped it a few times.
