Ok. So I am 20...and you may probably think it's all in my imagination that I have fine lines around my eyes...but seriously it's there.
i wear a product at night that my derm prescribed that contains very drying ingredients like sulfur, talc, alcohol, etc to help dry up oil. It's a white mixture and so when i put it on at night, i am careful not to put it too close to the skin around my eyes. however, i have been noticing for years that the skin around one eye has been developing fine lines....to the point where it is obvious now that when i smile, one eye has a lot of fine lines underneath while the other eye doesn't. last night i noticed that i put the white mixture a little closer to the skin around one eye then the other and that is the eye that has the fine lines. so, i guess because of the 5 or so years that i have using this white mixture, the skin around that one eye has been very dry and when making facial expressions or smiling for all these years, fine lines started appearing.
seriously, its very noticeable. you can see the asymmetry when i smile and it really, really bothers me. i try to take such good care of my skin and it makes me mad that these fine lines are my fault. now, i don't even want to make big facial expressions for the fear of making it worse....and that's no way to live. i want to smile and show joy and happiness without worrying about my face!
what can i do now? i want to prevent them from becoming static fine lines that r always there even when i don't smile or make facial expressions. my facial skin and the skin around my eyes feels tight and its because of the anti-acne products i use, but i NEED to use them.
should i use an eye cream with AHA? any reccomendations??
any help, advice, thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I would STRONGLY suggest asking your dermatologist. That way you can be sure that whatever you decide to put around your eyes does not react badly with your acne treatment. Not to mention that fine lines are a dermatologist's domain, anyway.
I second Pas's advice. It's so tempting to spend loads of money on products that make rediculous promises but a trip to the dermatologist would be a better investments. And we should all be going to the dermatologist regularly anyway.
My dermatologist has me apply a prescription strength cortisone cream (2.5% strength) to the undereye area in a MINUTE quantity, once or twice a day. You can probably also get good results from OTC cortisone at the 1% strength but long-term (beyond a few months) use of corticosteroids by my dermatologist seems to be discouraged.

I occasionally have problems with both excessive dryness and redness around my eyes. For some reason, a few fine lines can appear at the same time. I've gotten exactly the same prescription from my doctor as Teddy is recommending with the same advice about using as little as possible and not too regularly. It really works well!
