so i am a totally sucker for home/natural remedies and i found all this stuff on the youtube about baking soda. basically, you can use it as body scrub, shampoo, acne cleansing face scrub, deodorant (which didnt work too well for me but i could be doing it wrong), and tooth paste. i was so excited because im a fan of minimalism in cosmetic, BUT i also read online that baking soda can be bad for your teeth and wear down/off enamel because it is harsh, although one site that claimed this was sponsored by colgate (skepticism!). then i read that it was baking soda was better for your teeth than toothpaste because baking soda was more gentle. i am confused as to who to believe and dont want to risk my enamel just because i didnt believe the toothpaste company. If anybody can help me decide whether or not i can use it as toothpaste and not die. thanks community! also sorry if this was a little rough, its my first discussion/ question thingy!
baking soda has been used to brush teeth as an ingredient in the 'tooth powder' which was popular in the 60s-70s-80s, so it'd say it's pretty safe. also numerous 'no toxic chemicals' communities use baking soda for everything - cleaning their house and cleaning themselves.
I have a baking soda day once a week...brush my teeth,peeling-mixed with fine granulated sugar and milk ( milk reduces irritations, sugar has anti aging acids, and taht with baking soda is a finer peeling and it will not scratch the skins surface as compared to apricot scrubs. Of course I also wash my whites with baking soda added-everything comes out perfetly white!
