Hair loss from parting the hair

My friend told me that you can lose hair along your part. is this true? I have parted my hair in the same place for a very long time and have not had any hair loss.

If you pull on hair when you part it you can create traction alopecia which is a special kind of hair loss. But if you're not pulling on your hair there's really no problem.
