Do Silicone Based Products(primer, foundation, etc) need a special cleanser to be removed?
  • I have sensitive, dry, reactive, skin with a few small, fine, life-lines. (wink) I'm going in the direction of silicone foundation and primers for those reasons. However, if I need a harsh cleanser to remove them...all bets are off! I currently use CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser. That won't cut the mustard. The foundation I'm looking at offers dimethicone as the 2nd ingredient if that helps!?
  • Dimethicone can be tricky to remove but since this is a leave on product it depends what other ingredients are present in the formula that might increase it's removability. Without seeing the LOI (List of Ingredients) for the product in question, it's impossible to tell for sure. But if your skin feels clean after using a mild cleanser, then you're probably just fine.

  • Here's the List: Water,
    Dimethicone, Cyclopentsiloxane, isotridecyl, isononanoate, Glycerin,
Dipropylene Glycol, Polymethylsilses Quioxane, Candelilla Cera Wax,
Peg-9 Polydimethylxiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Caprylyl Glycol, Disodium
    Stearoyl, Glutamate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Dehydroacetate,
Tocopherol, Propeylene Glycol, Disodium Stearoyl Glutamate,
Ethylhexylglycerin, Sodium Dehydroacetate, Tocopherol, Propylene Glycol,
Aluminum Hydroxide, Citric Acid, Royal Jelly, Royal Jelly Extract,
    Chamomilla Recutita Extract/Matricaria Flower Extract

FYI: My skin usually feels quite clean after removal. However, mineral makeup to silicone is quite a difference in regards to skin cleansing/removal.
