Crisco and wrinkles
  • I've been reading some anecdotal information that suggests that Crisco is great for reducing wrinkles.  I want to start my wrinkle prevention early before my skin starts to dry out.  Has anyone found that Crisco serves as an effective moisturizer?
  • Not a Brain here. I have read before that Crisco makes an effective moisturizer. That is because it seals in the water when used on damp skin. Same goes for Vaseline. Both would be occlusive and could cause breakouts in some people.

I don't believe Crisco will reduce wrinkles. It would make them look less pronounced because the skin would be moisturized but as far as actually reducing them I don't think it would. Maybe the Brains will answer on this one.
  • I agree with Lindy. Crisco should moisturize very well and therefore help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. However, I have not looked at the data to see if the ingredients in Crisco are likely to cause an increase in acne breakouts.

The other problem with using natural greases and oils like this one is that they are harder to wash off your face than traditional formulated products.
  • Thanks for the feedback!  I have tried it on my hands this week b/c the temps here on the East coast dropped pretty low.  It worked well!
