Best drug store shampoo & conditioners?
  • Hey all,

I'm looking for recommendations on drug store shampoos & conditioners.  I'd like something that smells great and is moisturizing.  I've had great success with Biolage & Aveda products, but I'm tired of paying $20 a bottle.

I know Pantene does a good job but I'm bored with the fragrance.  I recently tried Organix Shea Butter Shampoo & Conditioner.  While they smell amazing (I love coconut), the shampoo completely sucks all of the moisture out of my hair, which isn't even dry to begin with.

    Suggestions?
  • Here in Spain, herbalscences and Elvive are the most consumed..Elvive is not a bad choice if u don't have oily scalp
  • Have you tried Tresemme?
  • I like Tresemme Smooth and Silky, Loreal Evercreme, and John Frieda Full Repair! All have lovely and unique scents also.
  • Neutrogena Triple Moisture is good for dry hair.
  • Burts Bees! It is still a little pricey, about $10 a bottle. One I recently found that I love that isn't drugstore but can be found at Trader Joe's...the Trader Joes Tea Tree Tingle shampoo and conditioner, it's all natural and a great price, $3.99 a bottle.
  • I really like the Aussie Moist line of shampoo and conditioners. Actually, thanks to the BeautyBrains I've saved a lot of money this way. I used to use Sebastian Drench (way more expensive) and then learned that P&G owns Sebastian, Herbal Essences, Pantene, and Aussie. After doing a quick ingredient comparison, Aussie won out. Plus, the smell is awesome!
  • Honestly, I know it is more for aveda but it is much safer and healthier for you hair. When I travel and do not have any travel size aveda I usually pick up some garnier fructis 2 in 1 for around $5 and it seems to work pretty well.
  • @lucewheel: nice detective work!
  • Yeah, thanks lucewheel.  I like a sebastian mousse (whipped creme) and haven't been able to find a less expensive alternative that works as well (I read ingredients at the drugstore just to compare, but none seem to have similar formulations).  Maybe I'll look at these brands to see if anyone has something similar.
