Sweaty hands and feet
  • It's a serious problem for me ever since I started using moisturizing body wash and (baby) oil. It's like my hands and feet couldn't stay dry (but hydrated), usually sweaty. What to do to make them sweat-free? It's bothersome cuz i worry that my feet will be smelly, and my hands can't hold hands with anyone. I know how important to moisturize the skin but I usually get that consequence. Should I stop using them? Pls. advise. Thank you.
  • I think you could try not using the body wash and baby oil for a few days, and see if the sweating goes away.

I'm not a doctor, but I also have problems with really sweaty feet, and other places too. You might have a condition called hyperhydrosis, basically sweating way more than most other people. You can get a diagnosis and help from a doctor. There are some prescription and non-prescription treatments to stop the sweating, even if it is not bad enough to be hyperhydrosis.

A great website that I get a lot of info from is that for the International Hyperhydrosis Society, which is at SweatHelp.org.

For smelly feet, I have used regular antiperspirant. It doesn't completely stop the sweating, but it does stop the smell. I use Secret Clinical Strength and rub it on my feet at bedtime.

  • thanks bluecatbaby. i'll check the website that you shared. actually when i didn't use body wash and baby oil before, my hands and feet were okay, i never had trouble with them sweating, but ever since i realize that moisturizing is an essential part of taking care of your skin i guess i had no choice but to buy those--- they keep my skin looking smooth and soft to touch--- the downside is the sweating of my hands and feet. if i schedule a consultation with a doctor, should i go to a Dermatologist or is there another doctor who specializes in that field? oh! good thing i don't have smelly feet, but i worry that someday it might happen that's why i opened this discussion to get some helpful tips to those people who care--- like you. :)
  • If you're going to consult a specialist, this question is more appropriate for an Endocrinologist rather than a Dermatologist. Ask your GP for a recommendation.
