I was wondering if anyone has any information on some of these products: Clarins and Dr. Perricone. I am constantly trying to figure out which products to use. I want to use good products, but I get tired of spending a forture. Sometimes I use Olay or Lorel, but really don't know if they work. I would love to hear from anyone if they have any suggestions, or if you use these products, what do you think. I sometimes feel like I am talked into using products I really don't want. I would love to hear your thoughts.
If you go to Paula Begoun's website, www.cosmeticscop.com, you'll see how she regularly criticizes Dr. Perricone's products as being ridiculously over-hyped and overpriced. Here's a link to her latest article on one of his new products:

Even the Beauty Snobs, who somehow has massive fortunes to spend on expensive skincare, don't care for Dr. perricone's products! To me, that says something. If people who I think throws away money on overpriced items think any product is not worth it, then it's REALLY not worth it.
Clarin's is well... interesting. I don't think their products really contain any great ingredients, but I do like their powder foundations. My mom has been using it for years, so when I was young, before I bought make up of my own, I'd use my mom's. =D
And definitely read reviews on Paula Begoun's website. I don't agree with 100% of her reviews, especially when it comes to make up (she's not a fan of NARS Oil-Free Foundation, which is the only foundation I've found to look and feel great on me), but she knows her skincare. She's done her homework.
And have you tried Boots No. 7? Inexpensive brand with products that's shown to work.
I heard so much hype about Dr. Perricone's eye cream, I got a sample of it at Sephora. When I put it on, my skin started burning right away, so I didn't use it again. A big disappointment. Well, maybe not, look at all the money I saved :)
I would have to say BURNING would not be a good omen as to whether you should spend more $$ on Dr. Perricone products.
And, yes, there are far too many products out there with similar formulations but different price ranges. The BBs have blogged on how we tend to psychologically justify our purchases of more expensive products so that we feel better. Sigh...so true.
Thanks for all your comments about Dr. Perricone - that was really helpful. I also went to Paula Begoun's website and that was also helpful. Now I have another product question for all of you. Can you tell me anything about the products Pevonia, Beauti Control, and have any of you tried Paula's products? I feel like I am a junkie when it comes to skin care products. I keep buying different ones because they all say they are going to do this and that. I really want to find just one product line, and stick with it. I also don't want to spend a fortune doing it. When I read through some of these blogs, I read about products I have never heard of. I just want a skin care that I can get at your department store or drugstore. What about these products that people sell at "home parties". I have gotten several invitations to home parties and they are selling skin care products. They advertise them as "at home spas". Just curious if any of you have experienced these types of parties.
I don't know about the lines you mentioned, but I have been using Principle Secret Reclaim line for about two months now, and really like it. When I first started using it, my skin started flaking. It was the dead skin. It does a great job of ex foliating. You can try the line out for a month for $29.00. If you don't like it, you can send it back for a full refund. The kit comes with facial cleaner (which I love) eye serum, face serum, day cream with spf 15, night cream, and an enzyme mask. My complexion is much brighter since I started using it. If you want to check it out, go to wwwprincipalsecret.com. If you like the line, they will send you 3 month kits automatically if you want. They will break the price up over 3 months, so it stays about $30.00 a month. The prices are much higher if you buy the products seperately.
P.S.
I'm in no way affiliated with the company, I just like the products.
Lisa, you can trust Paula Begoun's products to be what they say they are...no extravagent promises just straightforward products with no fragrance, in plain bottles with nice forumations. Not overhpriced either.
That said, of course, they aren't terribly exciting either but obviously we all crave novelty from time to time and that's why its the cosemetic BUSINESS...they know this...know that we are susceptible to cool packaging, fragrance, NEW WONDER ingredients etc.
I have only tried Paula's lipstick...not her other makeup items... and I wasn't impressed. I would stick with her for skin products.
Ditto what Judy said. Her skincare is so straight forward and does exactly what she says it will, which to me is so refreshing.
I'm using her Skin Balancing Cleanser and 2% Beta Hydroxy Acid Gel, and I really do like them. The Skin Balancing Daily Mattifying Lotion SPF 15 was too mattifying for my combo skin during winter (when I bought it). I'll have to try it during the summer when it's a bit less dry.
I forgot to say that what I use of Paula's is the Super Antioxidant Serum and the 1% Beta Hydroxy Lotion. Both are good solid products.
Has everyone checked out Paula's revised Best Products? This is where Paula compares prestige products with drugstore products. I love these kinds of lists!!

I also agree with Judy!
I like Paula's Choice Extra Care Moisturizing Sunscreen SPF 30+. I am now religous about applying it. under my makeup, as well anywhere else that will be exposed to sunlight including the tops of my hands. I also like her Skin Recovery Hydrating Treatment for normal to very dry skin when my face feels dry. I use it at night sometimes and like the fact that it can be applied around the eyes.
Hello. Skin care is so confusing!~~Too many products out there. Has anyone used LIFE CELL, DERMITAGE, OR IQ DERMA? Iam looking at all three of them? Any suggestions out there? I know Life Cell is pretty pricey? Anyone know if its worth it?
nicolab, PLEEEASE check out some other products before spending too much on a wrinkle cream. Olay's Regenerist line is very good. Here is a blurb I found online about LifeCell.
