I was interested in trying a tinted moisturizer with spf in hopes that it would not settle in the fine lines under the eye like foundation does. I would like it to truly be moisturizing through the day without making my face look shiny and greasy, as well as, having spf in it. If there is a tinted moisturizer out there that really moisturizes but has a matte finish without emphasizing fine lines and also has spf then that would be great. If it has any anti-aging ingredients in it then that would be even better. Any recommendations from the beauty brains community? I have the common T-zone combination skin. No adult acne but I do get a lot of shine in the T-zone and moisturizer makes me glisten all the more.
You can check this out on makeupalley.com. You can narrow your search down considerably by using that site. The beautypedia.com site also has a list of recommended tinted moisturizers/BB creams. (The one I have heard good things about happens to be on their list too.)
One I have heard good things about, but have not used myself, is from Neutrogena. Here is a link with a picture and description for reference.
I use Jemma Kidd which has great sun protection--5% zinc oxide and 5% titanium dioxide. It's a little pricey. I'm not sure how moisturizing it would be on its own (that's hard to find in a tinted moisturizer)--I use with other products. It is subtly illuminating, which does help with older skin. I'm not sure that's what you want, though, since you said matte finish, but the effect in Jemma is subtle and you could powder over it.
Another good one is the olay total effects one, which you can get in the drugstore.
You might also look into an australian brand, Becca Cosmetics, which has a million shades (if you can't find it in your area you might ask the Becca consultant for a shade recommendation over the phone). The only thing I'm not sure about with Becca is how photostable the sunscreen is (avobenzone is the UVA blocker, and it ought to be combined with octocrylene for photostabilization but I can't remember if it is). It does have high spf (25), and is much more moisturizing than your average tinted moisturizer (don't need a separate moisturizer). I'm so familiar with the Becca line (ultimately, the colors didn't work for my skin) that if you tell me what other foundatons match you or describe your skin, I might even be able to tell you what shade to order...It's called the luminous skin colour (it's really not a luminous finish despite the name), shade matching guide here http://www.beccacosmetics.com/assets/BECCA-Colour-Matching-Guide_734_3.pdf
like sarahf said, jemma kidd is a good one, laura mercier gets all the rave, i tried it myself and loved it, it's really expensive though. liz earle gets really good reviews, i use bb creams sometimes and they do give you the shiny effect. at least on my combo skin.
Laura Mercier has a very nice finish, but if you're looking for spf, be aware that it does not have broad spectrum protection. The Laura Mercier oil free irritated my skin (but I think I'm alone in that).
I looked at all suggestions. There seem to be so many choices and you never know what if anything will work until you start spending money to find out. If I even start this journey of search and spend I think I will start on the more affordable end with olay or neutrogena. I do appreciate all the suggestions from each one of you.
My skin is light/fair but if I want to I can get much darker by tanning slowly. I avoid purposely tanning now because I do not want to intentionally damage my skin any further than I did when I was younger and laid out in the sun all the time to increase my tan. With that being said I do live in FL, use sunscreen and still darken up some because I am not going to avoid the beach or pool. I want to enjoy life under the protection of sunscreen. I said all that based on Sarahf's inquiring about my skin since I don't have a good answer due to my skin ranges from light to tan. I also have no idea what foundation shade I would use at this time. I have not used foundation in over a year at least. I got tired of spending money on trying different foundations that said they did not settle into the fine lines when they did. I felt as the fine lines appeared in the past couple of years that any foundation seem to show them off and make me look older. I don't like going without foundation but I find it makes me look younger to just use sunscreen and moisturizer only. The last foundation I purchased and was using over a year ago was smashbox high definition foundation fair f1 and I used darac beauty sifted blur as a powder (it only comes in one shade). In no way did I try everything out there but I in the 2 or 3 years prior to giving up on make up I did try a lot of foundations and powders that in someway indicated they would not settle in the fine lines and these two (smashbox and darac) were the best items I found but they still were not good enough. I came to the conclusion that everything would emphasize the fine lines and not make them look better so I just stopped using make up. Since I don't like going without any coverage at all I was thinking I would try a tinted moisturizer and really wanted it to be matte finish so it did not need a power over it. Putting the foundation over the fine lines is bad but when you try to power over the foundation it then looks drastically worse no matter how lightly you try to powder but if you don't powder then you shine. It was all so frustrating.
In my own search I did turn up two that seem like possibilities as well.
I have never used anything from paula's choice but I have heard good things plus it does not seem to be priced to badly. I have never heard of intellishade before but it had great marketing. You can only get it from a doctor's office so I am sure it is way beyond what I would be willing to spend.
Thank you ladies for your suggestions on this beauty quest.
