Can I use baby shampoo to wash my face\remove make-up effectively?what are yout thoughts on it?
  • I have read on beauty blogs that you can basically kust wash your face with baby shampoo(the tear-free ones)to remove even stubborn eye make-up...is that true??we could save some serious money this way-:)
  • I have read that as well, but I never tried it. I use extra virgin olive oil, the same one found on my kitchen shelf, to remove all my makeup. It works for me!
  • And do you finish with a toner?you dont get any break-outs?
  • I don't use toner at all. After rubbing extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) to remove my makeup I use a tissue to remove most of it, then take a clean washcloth wrung out in hot tap water and gently wipe away the rest of the residue. I follow with a retinol product most nights. Two nights a week I use wither a BHA treatment or an AHA treatment.

I used to get breakouts like crazy, particularly along the jawline. Then I began using only EVOO. No more breakouts. Weird? Yes, maybe. But it works for me. For reference, I have oily sensitive skin. My skin is also a lot less oily than it was before I began using oil for cleansing. My makeup stays put a lot better. It has been a win win situation for me.
  • EVOO does not clog pores, lavilove even though its an oil. Common misconception. I use baby oil or EVOO to remove my make up as well. I have dry/sensitive skin and it seems to help! My philosophy is the less product you use the better.

    best of luck
  • Also the Beauty Brains had a link to this website a while back. You might find the info useful.

  • I don't know about eye makeup, but both my parents have this condition that makes their eyes extra crusty in the morning, to where sometimes they can barely open them. The eye doctor told them to wash their eyelids with baby shampoo every morning.
  • Interesting Jami--there are also pre-moistened eyelid towelettes that I had to use back when I had a chalazion (sp?) - a type of stye.  I wonder if they had something similar to baby shampoo in them...
  • For about a year I used Johnson and Johnson Baby Wash for washing my face and makeup removal. It seemed to work and to not bother my skin. This was 10 years ago, when I had a baby and put little time and attention to my skin care. I think that the facial cleanser I use now is better for my skin, but I still would use baby wash in a pinch.

You can get a sample bottle of baby shampoo and try it out. You're right, it would be a money  saver.
