I have old stretch marks, from growth spurt in my teenage years and most sites say it is too late for me on that front. But is there really no way to fix them (on tan or dark skin tones)?
Next I one of those people who are very easy to lose weight (when I focus) I planning about 20 Lbs in 4 months? Which should be safe but still fast? Since stretch marks are caused by rapid weight gain and loss I am concern about stretch marks. In addition to diet rich in H20, omega-3, zinc, vitamins A, C and D. What is the best method topically to prevent and heaven forbid treat stretchmarks?
I have heard some people who are stretch mark prone find Bio Oil effective and other Cocoa Butter or Shea Butter, for dealing with pregnancy or muscle gain. But some medical sources I have read say that topic treatments don't work for treating and prevent (Mayo clinic), but people experiences say otherwise is there any fact to topic treatments?
The problem with laser it is often made exclusively for light skin individuals only! Which I find to be quite unfair they never come up with solutions for type IV and up skin tones as well in dermatology as if that range is not important or something. Sorry a little resentful because all the supposed solutions for my skin problems require laser and I automatically denied because I have too much melanin to qualify for the procedure without serious repercussions.
I guess I going to have to try the oil treatments from the weight lifting and pregnancy discussion boards. *Sigh*
I was looking up rosehip oil which has also been promoted for it stretch mark usage they seem to contain similar elements. I yet to see a realistic comparison of camellia oil versus rosehip seed oil for their ability to treat stretch marks. Now that you showed me camellia I am kind of undecided.
@ Right Brain - I remember that thread! I had tried the Bio-Oil once before, not for stretch marks but for something else, and found it did not work for me. It smells good but that is about it. I was trying it for uneven skin tone.
I tried bio oil for a while it did "seem" to reduce stretch marks (old) appearance by a bit but I got the same results as your regarding evening out skin tone. Stretch mark difference didn't seem significant enough to continue using it.
i hate the smell of bio oil, but still used it religiously to get rid of my stretch marks. it helped a little, definitely got rid of the colour and made them blend with my skintone better. i learned about bio oil from my pregnant friend, she used it day and night on most of her body to prevent stretch marks and it worked pretty well.
they were pink but that old hmm that is odd, since they say if it is pink they are realtively fresh and that when they go to whitish hue that they are old.
