summer and swimming hair products
  • Okay so the pool just opened up and its getting really hot outside, meaning another season of dry, frizzy, dehydrated hair! Ive been looking online for some solutions to help keep your hair hydrated while, and after swimming. Are there any good products or remedies to help keep your hair in mint condition all summer?
I also discovered a line called Ellin Lavar Textures. Apparently their products include sunscreens and oils, is this legit or just another marketing scam?
    Thanks! :)
  • my BF works in the pool and we went to the barbers recently and he commented on BF's hair being in quite a state from the chlorine and suggested using barrier creams. i'm not sure what they are, still need to research, but I think that would work for you as well to protect your hair

  • The only solution I know of to keep your hair from being dried out by swimming a lot is to throughly wet your hair with clear water before you go swimming and put a good conditioner in it. The conditioner would keep the water you originally put into your hair from evaporating too quickly so I am guessing that is the reason for using it. Hair can only absorb so much water, so if it is soaking wet with clear water (no chlorine or salt) it wouldn't be able to absorb the water from the pool or the ocean quite so readily.

Maybe the Brains will chime in on this one. If what I have read as a solution is wrong I would like to know!
  • that sounds about right, i guess that would be the 'barrier' I was told about, as conditioner would prevent the swimming pool water from getting onto the hair too easily as well
  • Great question, I'll be blogging an answer in a few days.
  • Thanks guys! I have heard of that suggestion before so ill will definitely try that!
I also hear oil helps with the chlorine too!
Cant wait to see this question blogged about!

Again, thank you all and any other tips or suggestions are welcome!
