I like to use black eyeliner on my bottom eyelid. But there must be something wrong with my eyes, because the eyeliner either disappears or smudges after about 1/2 hour. I don't touch my eyes and don't use any other make up.
Many of my friends use eyeliner the same way and it stays on the whole day!
I have tried eyeliners from Clinique, MAC, and several other companies, but it's always the same.
I have no idea why it happens to me. Maybe my eyes produce more tears than normal?
Does anyone have a similar problem or knows if there is anything I can do about it?
Hi ardg,
I have this problem too and I could not figure out why this was happening to me. But then I read this book by a make-up artist and she said that eyeliner can smudge if you put too much eye cream on before putting on the eye liner. I guess it makes the eyeliner trail down from the rim of your eyes. I'm not sure if you wear eye cream but I definitely do so it made sense that the eye cream thing was the cause of my problem. So her solution was to apply only a tiny bit of eye cream or none at all.
I also read that a way to keep eyeliner lasting long on the rim of your eyes is to dip the tip of the eyeliner pencil is some Visine (or anything similar I guess) and then apply it to your eyes. Also, another trick I use is after I apply black eyeliner, I usually go over it with some dark eye shadow. I just use the eyeshadow brush and gently pat on some of the eyeshadow onto where my eyeliner is. This eyeshadow trick has made a huge difference in the lasting power of my eyeliner.
Hope this helps you out!
Usually eyeliner smudges as a result of the oil in your skin. Even if you don't have oily skin, your skin does still produce some oil. That will make the eyeliner smudge and migrate, just as eye creams will. Try MAC liquidlast liner. It doesn't budge, but I would definitely suggest using a different brush than it comes with. The one in the tube is too thick and not stiff enough; it tends to make a mess.
Yes, I think it must be the oil - I don't use eye cream because my skin is oily :(
I will try the eyeshadow trick and the MAC liquidlast and report back.
Thanks very much!
liquid liners... but it's super tough applying liquid liners to the bottom..
my friend has good luck with clinique pencil liners, but then she has oily skin, and we live in a dry area.. but give it a go and let me know how it works for u..
a really awesome eyeliner that i use is clinique's new cream liner! i think its easy to put on. it comes witha little tiny brush and a small little pot of cream. It has never smudged on me. It usually only comes off with make-up remover. The only con is that they don't have any crazy "out there" colors! they have a dark black and some browns but thats it!
