Skeptical about a hair treatment : Shiseido's Fuente
  • Hi, I went to a salon to get treatment for my hair because I've been noticing hair loss after doing rebonding.  I couldn't decide if it was breakage or they were falling off from the roots.  The stylist looked at my scalp and said it was too oily and recommended me to do a 5 step shiseido treatment which cleans sebum off the scalp followed by its shampoo, a moisturing treatment treatment, a rinse and 2 tonics.  One tonic was a spray on and the other was a liquid applied directly, both were leave in treatments. The stylists was promoting the treatment package and the products but I wanted to know further.  The ingredients claimed were zanthoxylum  piper fruit which is suppose to reduce hair loss and greying. This link has some shots of some of the products ingredients http://www.lelong.com.my/shiseido-fuente-vita-shampoo-tonic-reduce-hair-loss-83910733-2011-05-Sale-P.htm

I am skeptical because I know for hair loss there are only 2 treatments that work, one is Rogaine and the other is Propecia.  Also, how true is this idea that oily scalp causes hair loss because sebum clogs the hair follicle? Does this piper fruit that is the active ingredient really work?  Would appreciate advice.
  • This is a great question. But not as great as your forum name! Feeble chicken… You crack me up. I'll try to post something about this on the blog next week.
