Acne medicines
  • What is the difference in how salicylic acid, benzyl peroxide and sulfur work to get rid of acne?
  • Here's the short answer:

    • Sal acid is keratolytic meaning it reduces the adhesion between skin cells so they shed more easily, this helps unclog pores.
    • BP has antibacterial properties so it kills p. acne, the little bugger that causes acne.
    • Sulfur is another skin peeling agent to help unclog pores.
    • Note: BP and Sulfur are sold in combination so you get antibacterial and skin peeling.
